Quick update.

I received my EAD/AP combo card in the mail today. I must say, I did contact my local congress woman to expedite my case due to job offer that i start on monday. I sent my offer letter and start date to my congress woman and I also provided the importance of my job to my family and how my job position benefits the environment. (my job is in the renewable energy industry) maybe, just maybe my job tittle also helped USCIS expedite my EAD process.

I am so grateful this part is over and I can start work. I've been working since I was 16years old, so the past months sitting down playing video games while my new wife worked has been a bit odd for me to process. Im glad this part is over and I wish everyone's EAD/AP goes smoothly as well.

Congrats!!! Enjoy your new job!

Hi Everyone! So we recieved an RFE for the Affidavit of Support a couple weeks ago. On the form it said that they needed tax information (I orignally sent in my tax transcipt for the last tax year, was I supposed to send more than that?? W2's maybe?) and that I didn't meet the 125% of poverty guidelines but I make almost 2,000 dollars over what I need to. My last tax year wasn't the greatest due to I wasn't working because of a back injury so I'm not sure if they just looked at that and didn't bother to look at my current income. I started my job that I have now about a year ago and I now meet the requirments. I had my boss write a letter, I gave them my current pay stubs for the last six months and my child support income which on the form instuctions counts as an income. I called the number on the RFE form and the woman who I talked to basically told me that she couldn't tell me what I needed to send them to continue our case. She gave me a couple of websites to visit which aren't much help either and she also told me I could make an appointment at our local office to talk to an immigration officer. Has anyone ever done this, because thats what we are thinking about doing? Its really stupid that they put this on hold for money reasons when all he needs is his EAD to work so he will be able to contribute to our income! The poverty guidelines for a household of 3 is $24,740...with work I make $23,200 and I get $3,400 child support for a year which puts me at $26,600. Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do? My husband wants to work and drive and he can't do anything until he gets his EAD. Sitting at home is driving him nuts!

Hi! I had a RFE for affidavit of support too and I totally understand your frustration!! What do they ask exactly in your RFE? Mine was for the most recent tax return and asking for us to find a joint sponsor. I didn't understand at first because my husband makes above the poverty guideline for 2 people. His job is recent though cause he just started working in May (he was a student before). I called twice. First time, the lady on the phone told us we should take a lawyer or make an appointment at the local office. I tried to make an appointment but there wasn't any appointment available. So the next day, we called again and asked to talked to an Immigration Officer that time. The Immigration Officer was able to give us more information. She told us that it's because my husband hasn't been working long enough (and his most recent tax return doesn't reflect what he's making now) and that our best option was to find a joint sponsor. So maybe you could try to call again or if you can make an appointment at your local office that could be helpful to talk to someone. I'm sorry about your RFE, I know it's so annoying cause we meet the requirements and if they could give us the EAD, we could work!! That's all we want!! Makes me so upset!!

I think unfortunately EAD/AP is on hold while AOS has a RFE. Most case numbers around mine have had EAD/AP approved.

My RFE said that I needed tax documentation and that I do not meet the poverty guidelines. I've been at my job for a year now so that should be acceptable. Ok so we got the same RFE. That's weird because since you've had your job for 1 year now, that should be fine! I don't understand why they're giving you a hard time!! That's good that you were able to make an appointment. Keep us posted on how it will go and what they'll tell you. That's really good news that EAD/AP isn't on hold!! I really thought that it would be too. I'm glad to read that!!! :) Good luck with your appointment!
