I just checked the USCIS website and my EAD has jumped to "My card was ordered to be produced" and AP has been approved! Woohoo I'm so happy!!

If they catch you working for cash without your EAD or Green card your AOS will be denied and you can even get deported! We are still not 100% admitted in this country until our green card is aprove

Holy ####### that's insane. And unfair. Hopefully usps figures out where it went!

I'm kind of kicking myself for not getting my ssn before my I-94 expired. Though they don't have to make any sense...

But California (or at least the hubs' health insurance provider) is silly.

Ssn website. You don't have work authorization you don't need your ssn for health cafe of drivers licence.

Health insurance: due to this legislation you need a Ssn to be enrolled in this plan.

Dmv: well they get confused anyway. Ugh. I'm hoping ead/ap works for that. I hope I don't have to wait for the green card...

We can always hope...I've been going loopy not working. And California is ridiculous with drivers licenses. I'm pretty sure I can get one after I get the ead/ap...if I have to wait for the green card I'll scream.

Oh well. I kind of expected the ap/ead to take 3-4 months so any less than that is a blessing...it is government though. It'll take as long as it takes.

Not working is really a frustrating situation :( I passed my California driving test 2 weeks ago but they just gave me a temporary license which expires on the day when my I-94 expires. In order to get the permanent license I have to show them my EAD OR Green card as a proof that I am going to stay here.

So my EAD appears to be lost in the mail somewhere..It says delivered on their website but there was nothing in the mail box when I checked.. I've searched this website for similar cases and it seems to be a common thing with USPS losing important pieces of Federal mail .. really ? How can they be so careless ? I've seen several threads of people complaining about them losing their green cards and or EAD's and tell them they claim no responsibility for the loss. How can someone pay almost $2000 in fees only to have their cards end up being lost in the mail somewhere or handled by an unreliable postal system? Ridiculous.. I've opened an 'inquiry' with USPS and they said that will take them 1 business day, and I spoke to a supervisor at USCIS and they are telling me that I have to refile and pay a fee of $380 even though I've already paid $1490 in fees and have a pending AOS, They claim no responsibility.. absolutely ridiculous

That's completely absurd... how can they lose such and important document then later on come back with no responsibility towards it...

Received biometrics appointment letter on Saturday. My husband plans to attempt a walk-in this week so that he wont have to drag his sister along when she's visiting next week.

No problem with an early walk-in for biometrics at the Atlanta local office! Just tell your husband to try to go early in the morning so he won't have to wait too long.

Well luckily enough my biometrics appointment is my birthday...and the hubs works around there so...ha. Lunchtime with the hubby. I can handle that ;)

My plan us get ead/ap, apply for ssn then book the test (kinda stressed about doing a test. It's been so long. And thinking in miles and yards isn't going to help...c'mon I've been driving in Canada for how many years now? Only accident was I got rear ended once...) anyway. It is what it is.

well SSN can be applied on the basis of your passport with visa, entry stamp and valid I-94. I applied on 5th day of landing on the U.S soil and it arrived in mailbox on 7th day of the date I applied.

DMV issued me temporary license valid for a month on the basis of the licenses I hold from other countries. It was valid for one month in which I had to pass my behind the wheel test. I passed behind the wheel test a couple of weeks ago but they again gave me another temporary license which is valid till my I-94 is valid. and they will only issue me a permanent license when I show that EAD/AP. Documents required:

- passport with visa and entry stamp

-SSN

-I-94
