Awesome! Congrats :)

We can always hope...I've been going loopy not working. And California is ridiculous with drivers licenses. I'm pretty sure I can get one after I get the ead/ap...if I have to wait for the green card I'll scream.

Oh well. I kind of expected the ap/ead to take 3-4 months so any less than that is a blessing...it is government though. It'll take as long as it takes.

Same here! It's frustrating feeling that you can't do anything but wait! I'm hoping to get my driver's license as soon as I have EAD/AP too! I'm so ready!! :clock:

For anyone in New York State, you might be happy to find out that we once we get our hard copy NOAs in the mail we are eligible for Medicaid because we are now considered "lawful present immigrants" (Note how we are not 'permanent' immigrants since our status is pending). And this does not affect the affidavit of support because it is excluded as per USCIS law, and even if it wasn't, New York State law says its excluded anyways because Medicaid here is paid entirely by the State without any federal money so in essense you are not using federal government money :D

AOS Journey:

9/19/2014: AOS Package (i130, i485, i765 and i131) sent to Chicago lockbox using USPS Certified mail

12/3/2014: EAD and Advanced Parole in Production :dancing:

12/12/2014: EAD/AP Card received

1/23/2015: Interview is Scheduled for February 27!

1/28/2015: Interview Letter Received

3/10/2015: Greencard Received

12/3/2016: Filed i751 at California Service Center

12/4/2016: Filed N400 - Dallas TX

2/18/2018: i751 Case transferred to Local Office

2/26/2018: i751 Case received at Local Office

1/5/2018: i751 Case Transferred And New Office Has Jurisdiction

3/5/2018: Another update saying i751 Case Transferred And New Office Has Jurisdiction

5/7/2018: Received Letter stating i751 Case transferred to National Benefits Center, Lee's Summit, MO 64064

5/30/2018: Interview scheduled for N400

7/11/2018: Attended interview and was informed it will be a combo N400/I751 interview

8/6/2018: N400 Approved

8/7/2018: I751 Approved

9/5/2018: Oath Ceremony missed due to travel abroad and letter sent to USCIS to reschedule ceremony

10/2/2018: Officially a US Citizen!

Really! Any idea how that works exactly, i.e. the sign up process?

Had my biometrics this morning, had to pretty far out on the D line (almost as far as Coney Island). The USCIS center was in this semi-abandoned shopping center. Weird location. People were friendly & helpful though. It took about 30mins so that's good! For people with a name-change, make sure you bring your marriage certificate. They asked for it 3 times.

Anyone have any idea how long it takes on average between the bio-appointment and the card production? I saw someone with 4 days, but I'm taking that as a very rare exception...

You apply through www.nystateofhealth.ny.gov but since we don't have a social security number it cannot verify my identity online and I need to call :P According to NY State we are currently PRUCOLs lol.. that's a funny name for adjustment of status applicants :P

Some quotes from an NY State website i found:

"New York City is a city of immigrants. More than 3 million residents are foreign-born. There are more health insurance and health care options for immigrants in NYC than in many other states."

"Getting health insurance through NY State of Health will not affect your immigration status. It will not be held against you if you apply to change or renew your immigration status."

  • The information you provide on the application is only used to see if you or your family members are eligible for health insurance.
  • The federal government has said online here and here, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed in a letter, that information from the marketplaces is protected and it won’t be used against immigrants or members of their households for other purposes."

I am on the phone with them now to learn more.. will post another update about this soon.

Cool! Thanks. The website isn't really working on my end. I will just wait for my EAD card so I can apply for a SSN and *then* do Medicaid.

Can't wait until I get some kind of update on the paperwork!

So my EAD appears to be lost in the mail somewhere..It says delivered on their website but there was nothing in the mail box when I checked.. I've searched this website for similar cases and it seems to be a common thing with USPS losing important pieces of Federal mail .. really ? How can they be so careless ? I've seen several threads of people complaining about them losing their green cards and or EAD's and tell them they claim no responsibility for the loss. How can someone pay almost $2000 in fees only to have their cards end up being lost in the mail somewhere or handled by an unreliable postal system? Ridiculous.. I've opened an 'inquiry' with USPS and they said that will take them 1 business day, and I spoke to a supervisor at USCIS and they are telling me that I have to refile and pay a fee of $380 even though I've already paid $1490 in fees and have a pending AOS, They claim no responsibility.. absolutely ridiculous

WHAT!!!? that's ridiculous!!! How would the make you pay again.

Since what date it says delivered???? Is there any chance it is still in a USPS office/truck...???

I read a post last week about someone's green card being delivered to a wrong adress too......... but you never think it's going to happen. With all the things we have to worry about..mail handling is totally out of our control

I'm so sorry :( I've read the same thing several times here on VJ. I can't believe they can lose mail like that. Especially mail that is so important. That is so ridiculous that you would have to pay $380 to refile!!! Really?! It's not even your fault! Like this whole process is not expensive enough. So unfair! I hope that the "inquiry" to USPS is going to work.

lala my heart goes out to you. That is unbelievable they would carelessly lose important documents, then charge an additional fee to replace a document you did not lose. Its already difficult to pay uscis fees but they need to be a little bit more careful with federal documents. I hope and pray that they find your document. Stay positive.

Thank you so much .. I was so frustrated, It took us months to come up with that money too smh, so inconsiderate. I am supposed to start a job this week and everything. Trying to keep a calm and positive mind right now to get things dealt with the best way, I am going to try to go to the post office in person and see if I can get any help that way
