Just got my new Social Security card today. It took less than 2 weeks. Now next step is to get my DL! Going to the DMV on Monday. Can't wait!!

Congrats! How many days did it take for you to get your new SSC since the day you applied?

I have applied to change my name of my SSC this Monday and today I went to the DMV thinking my name will be changed by today as it has been 24 working hours since then. However, my name was still not updated

At least the DMV people were nice and they let me take the written test anyways but they did not give me the instructional permit yet since my name did not verify. How long should I expect it to take for my name to be updated?

Yayy! That was fast. I'm still waiting to go with my sister in law to get mine.

Meanwhile I've been reading the drivers manual for when I have my SSC to go take the test. Doesn't seem like it's hard since the manual barely has a few pages.....

You took once already when you came as an Aupair right????

So the evidence for the interview is what makes me a bit nervous because we don't have too much.... No rent, no bills in our names..nor life insurance or health insurance together...or phone plan together....or car insurance together.. Or own anything together :/

Just pictures of trips together, or Christmas from past years and random pictures, wedding invitations from friends with both our names...facebook screenshots of the past 5 years.. and a few Instagram screenshots.

Seems like nothing compared with what you all have

It took 13 days exactly. I applied on Dec 5. I didn't even try to go to the DMV before getting my new SSC because the receipt the social security place gave me didn't have my SSN on it (just my name and address). So I knew it wouldn't work.

That's good that they let you take the written test. I don't really know how long it's going to take for your name to be updated. When I went to the SSA they told me it could take up to 4 weeks. Maybe you could just wait until you get your new SSC. Shouldn't take too long now. Sorry I'm not a big help

I've been reading the manual too. It's really easy (compared to France lol). I also took free tests online so I'm ready!! Yes I already got a GA DL once (back in 2008). I didn't have a hard time at all so I'm not worried

It's ok that you don't have a lot of evidence as a married couple. You haven't been married long. It will be important for ROC. We wouldn't have a lot of evidence either if we had an interview (just health insurance I think). But you guys have been together for a long time so just bring all you have. It shouldn't be a problem!

I wanted to create a my social security account online to maybe find out that way when my name gets updated.

But my address didn't fit it the lines they provided so after 3 times trying different options, they have blocked me for 24 hours. Great! More waiting time! haha

I've rly come to hate waiting for anything since I've started this process!

"we have identified your case as potential interview waiver, this means that we do not need to interview you"

but on the other hand it says that

"your field office is quiet busy becuase of which allow us 6months to process your case if you dont hear anything from us then contact us"

what does this mean??? is it a good news or bad news? m i gonna get my GC sometime soon without interview? or do i really have to wait for 6 months or even more...

It means that you'll get your GC without interview (it happens to a lot of people adjusting from K-1) but it won't be soon. I think right now people have to wait 6 months and even more. Yes that's good and you can travel with AP if needed. You will just wake up one day with that green card waiting for you in the mailbox.

oh IRIScv, me too i don't have a lot of evidence and i wait the letter for the interview, i have only joint account together, pictures, ... and that's it (no healthcare together, no insurance life together, ....). I don't know in the letter what they will ask to bring with us.

My interview it is 20 january, i am august filers.

and i don't have ead card , so no ssn and i would like to go do my driver licence, but i have to wait.

I hope it 's will be fine.

So just got the hard copy of my interview appointment in the mail.

It's January 15 at 9:45AM.

I think the letter looks exactly the same for everybody, with the list of items you must bring then and another paper saying if I've ever been arrested I must bring documents related to that.

So they must have mailed it soon after sending you an email, that's great! Did your status change on your I-485 when u check it on the Uscis website?

Hi!!

We have joint bank account too, I think I forgot to mention that. I still don't have SSN either( waiting on someone to drive me to the SSA).

EAD came so recently then after that the interview letter, we didn't really have time to get any extra evidence during this time!! Besides every month bank statements...nothing new.

I hope it all goes well for everybody and they understand the situation, there is really not much we can do right now without EAD and green card. Wishing they just tell us to do better for ROC.

The date on the letter is from December 16! It arrived really fast. My uscis status changed Monday 15 when I got all the emails from uscis, it says interview was scheduled and I will received a letter soon if don't get it before blah blah contact them
