Hey everyone.. I felt like of all places to ask this question it would be best to ask it here, seeing we are all going through the same nerve wrecking process lol. How do you all pass the time while waiting ? ( Apart from constantly checking application statuses on USCIS' website lol ) Im usually one to keep myself very occupied with a bunch of stuff but sometimes I really feel like I dont know what to do with myself and find myself going a bit stir crazy!:wacko:

Hey! I feel the same way as you do! In France I used to work full time Monday to Saturday and was pretty busy. And I like being busy! So I'm kinda going crazy sometimes here having not much to do! I don't have any friends yet. So usually I just spend time with my husband in the morning (he starts work at 2 pm) and then I Skype or talk on Facebook to my family or/and friends in France. I also clean, do laundry, cook, go to the grocery store, watch TV... And sometimes I go for a run/walk (but it's been really hot so hard to go during the day!). I can't wait to be able to work and to find some friends!

Same here... I've been here since April and I feel Im losing my mind. We went this week to the beach for a few days so that was good to get out the house.

But my everyday is honestly very BORING.... My husband has 2 sisters a bit older than me so they are my only friends here, and since I can't drive I have to stay home all the time.... Cooking, laundry, I work out a little bit.... It's a neighborhood there are only houses around so I can't go grocery shopping by myself.

I spend lots of times looking at this website haha and texting my sisters in law or trying to learn how things work, with banks, phone companies or random things, looking at websites looking what kind of jobs there are ( just for curiosity ) shopping online....

We have a pool but it's so hot here in Georgia I don't even go outside!

Hello Guys,

I saw my case and I have an RFE....I don't know what are they asking for and I hope its just a simple mistake on my part, I am waiting for the mail for sure i'll get it this week, I will also try to get an early biometric on Tuesday.

I am also bored and cant wait to start working again, I am not use to being home alone during the day and doing nothing....

keeping my hope high to get this process done faster :-)

God Bless everyone!

Fall is beautiful here all the trees will change color and the weather will be nicer.... I'm excited too :) I hope to be able to drive soon. I never drove before because in Spain I lived in Barcelona so I could walk everywhere, use subway etc, so learning to drive is going to be a challenge too :) I have to learn about so many things and the only thing I can do so far is wait! Overwhelming!

Ohhh Where did you see about the RFE???

I went to the uscis website with the case number they give to look but there is not much information about my case so far.

I hope whatever they think you are missing is fixed soon :) can you do the biometrics with a RFE??? ( just wondering )

So after getting the work authoritzation What kind of jobs are you all going to try to find????? :)

Sorry about your RFE. You should know more about it soon and I hope it's an easy fix (maybe you forgot a signature or something). Good luck though! Hopefully it won't slow down your process :)

So after getting the work authoritzation What kind of jobs are you all going to try to find????? :)

I actually had a Georgia driver license before (I was an au pair here in Atlanta between 2008 and 2010, that's how I met my husband) but it expired when my visa did. I'm not too worried about it cause it's really easy to get. With some practice, you should be fine! :) I know that waiting is so overwhelming! Patience really is a virtue lol

After EAD, I might try to find a job as a nanny since I have experience here (since I was an au pair). So that might be easier to find a job in this field. What about you?

Ive been an Au pair too :) but in Ireland and... It was a really bad experience for me!!! Haha but I also know it was the family I had to live with.....

I was very curious about the work situation so I've been looking in websites like indeed.com and there are TONS of jobs offers in our area so I'm not very stressed about it like I was in Spain where it was soooo hard to find something, I mostly worry about I don't really have too much experience working so I may apply for jobs but will see if they hire me or not haha. I found things like a receptionist in a hospital where they only asked for high-school degree...I have hope in simple things like that.

I know several people who work with kids and they say it pays well so it will work for you since you like it , and I believe it's going to be easy for you to find something :)

I would like to go to school but I know for the first couple years at least I need to work and save some money, we have had so many expenses and will have, I can't be picky right now. Just want to work, be busy and be able to help with bills and groceries etc I feel useless haha

Yes that's exactly what I tell my husband: I feel useless! lol He says no but I guess I've been so used to work that I hate not being able to help with money. And it's the longest I've been without working so it seems long!

I don't have a lot of experience either. I used to work in retail in France (during 4 years) but I don't want to work in retail anymore (crazy hours and tired of dealing with angry customers lol). I'm also looking online for jobs. They do have lots of job offers in the area. But most jobs that I looked at required experience so I'm kinda worried too about that! I'm sure we can find something though!! Even if it's not the job of our dreams lol, gotta start somewhere! ;)

Hey guys, does anyone know if we are able to open a bank account while our adjustment of status application is pending? I am adjusting from a B2 status after getting married to my US Citizen wife. I came a lot of times to the US as a visitor but never worked etc so I don't have a SSN.

I know it is better to have a joint account with your spouse when the interview day comes (to show current co-mingling etc) but as far as I am concerned, banks need you to have a social security number which I don't have since I am not a legal permanent resident yet :S

If anyone had a similar experience or managed to open an account in the US without a social insurance number can you let me know which bank helped you?

Any help would be appreciated!

My husband and I went to his bank so he could include my name in his account, they can do that as long as you can show your marriage contract and ID with your married name like driver's license or National ID, no need for SSN.

I think it depends of the bank. I read on VJ that some people were able to open a bank account at Bank of America with just their passport. But with some banks it's not as easy. Like at my husband's bank they want me to have a state ID (which I don't have yet) to add me on his bank account. I don't remember if they asked about the SSN though. You should ask your spouse's bank.

I think it depens every state and bank is different. I live in Georgia and my husband's is in Bank of America. I have read lots of people in this forum who were able to open an account there and I went and they didn't let me..... They asked for a SSN. So my husband opened a joint account and put me with him so I can have a debit card and transfer some money from my country and they told me when I get my work authoritzation to come back and I open my own account. The woman felt bad because she was from Jamaica and she married an American man years ago and moved here and said she didn't want to make it hard for me haha but she said the computer ask for the information.

I would go ask and they will tell you how they work, maybe it's possible for you maybe they say you have to wait :)

To do the join account I only needed my passport.

She needed a visa and since I didn't come with a K-1 I was a tourist when I got married I didn't have one and my ESTA was expired she put one random visa to help.

I think they are nice if you go to the same bank your husband is and explain your situation they may try to help

To do the join account I only needed my passport.

She needed a visa and since I didn't come with a K-1 I was a tourist when I got married I didn't have one and my ESTA was expired she put one random visa to help.

I think they are nice if you go to the same bank your husband is and explain your situation they may try to help

Thanks, I've done exactly the same think, I came here on a tourist visa with my wife, we weren't planning to stay but oh well things change. She is banking with citi bank so I guess I will go in tomorrow and ask.
