i think the NVC representative gave you false information - i am planning to be there with my fiance later this month. check out this link for more info about the interview http://havana.usint.gov/family_based_immigrants.html

Copied from that link: "Only the applicant will be admitted to the U.S. Interests Section, except when the applicant is a minor or is disabled and requires assistance; also, in some IR1 and K1 cases, the petitioner will also be admitted."

the quote says "some" but from what i have read here on VJ, petitioners have always been allowed to attend IR1 and K1 interviews in cuba. best of luck!

You are allowed to attend unless they changed some rules. I've also read for Habana that people actually say you should be there to prove the relationship is real. There have been recent approved cases where the other person did not attend and they were still approved.

Hi Snowjoe, I'm also a American citizen and my hubby is back in Cuba we are waiting for Nvc to close the case, Hopefully this coming up week * Praying for no checklist * Can you please let me know how long did it take for nvc to schedule your wife interview after closing the case? and as far as attending the interview as per my attorney I was told that I would not be let in the interview process but I believe there is a waiting room for American citizens.

Hello. Surprisingly quick considering all of the waiting we have done. The case was completed at NVC on August 22nd 2014. Her appointment was scheduled on September 2, 2014. Her appointment date is October 6, 2014. As far as attending the interview we have been told yes and no. I plan to go and if I have to wait then I'll do that.

The list for places for the medical exam is here:

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/interview/prepare/medical-examination.html

From the drop down select HAV and download that pdf. He should go right away after receiving his appointment date. They tried to schedule my wife's medical for after the interview telling her it was no problem she would just need to go back to the US Interest Section when the medical results were in. Luckily she finally got an appointment.

She says the medical is a great place to eavesdrop and ask questions to get information. Probably some misinformation too! For example someone told her that going a half an hour before her appointment time would be fine. Someone else told her people go at five am because the officials start collecting ID's at six am.

Anyway best of luck!

How did everything go on the interview? where you able to go in the US Embassy for her interview or did they made you wait outside? My hubby has his interview on 1/26 and I also plan to attend. :)
