I do diverge with them on the no govt oversight agency thing. I can tell you from having been in industry for nearly 30 years. OSHA has saved a lot of lives and following the guidlines is not an undue burden

Good point. Without the regulations, its doubtful private companies would always do what's best.

In an extreme libertarian society , yes. However a more moderate no.

No it is not doubtful. They would do what ever some jackass in a big office said do, which would get people killed. The only way I could get ego CEO's to do anything was send them news stories about the massive fines and jail time for letting people get killed.

I was in a meeting one time with the Big boss. She was giving me a fit about some obscure safety issue, trying to look good and belittle me. She said, " Well as head of the Safety committee did you or did you not do so and so." I looked at her with a blank stare. She then asked me, "well are you head of that committee or aren't you". "answer me "

I calmly replied, No Ma'am you are . She was so out of touch , she did not even know she was the head of the committee on paper. She would never come to the meetings. To busy at the beach, or frolicking on the company dime.

Libertarian is actually farther right than Republicans. I thought you were moderate.

For me they were a protest vote - I agree in principle of their view for social issues which is "whatever - just leave me out of it". The days of small government are over but we have a group on the right that will be fighting that battle for the next generation or so which is too bad - all these programs that pretend choice exists and use quasi-private companies to make them happy when all it really does in give the rest of us more paperwork.

The question is how it would work in practice - I'm not sure a system in which ultra-rich billionaires with private armies can take over the government would be a great system to be a part of.

Corporation as government - not sure I like that idea.

That's always been the case one way or another. Those with money rule directly or indirectly. The invention of credit and then eventually going away from the gold standard changed that a bit, but not too much. Now the folks that rule fight each other for power with money given to one side or the other.
