Birth Record Vs. Birth Certificate

So My fiance and I have a little bit of a problem.

when he was a baby his mother only got the short form birth certificate available in Canada. according to the research I've done thats not good enough, so we applied for a long form birth certificate well lots of crazy stuff happened, things getting sent to the wrong addresses and such we managed to lose 4 weeks of time to process the certificate. we just got it sent out today, and the interview is on the 23rd only 3 weeks from today in Montreal... the birth certificate will take 5 weeks to process!

so our question is, if there is no way we'll get the long form birth certificate on time, do you think that the short form, mixed with his birth record from the hospital get him by at the interview? I'm going to call the NVC tomorrow and I'll also ask the embassy but for now I'd love to hear everyone's imput!

No, it won't work. Sorry.

True, they are going to want the long form. I was born in Canada, and had to get one sent to me in NZ.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

His approval will be on hold until he provides the long-form certificate to the embassy.

Which province does he live in? I don't know if this site is legit but their time lines to receive the birth certificate seems quicker than 5 weeks... Good luck hope it works out.

What province does he live in?

I am in Ontario and received mine in about 1.5 weeks and this was without choosing the urgent option. Is there any way to make the birth certificate come faster? I know Ontario offers this but not sure if other provinces do. Perhaps he can go pick it up in person?

He was born in Ontario, the Problem is that we don't have all the information required on the form, his mother wont talk to us at the moment and give us the required information so it said it would take 5 weeks, and we dont really have the ability to get to Thunder Bay to pick it up. I'll look into any expedited processing, but links would be appreciated

Shoot I didn't think you would have to go all the way to Thunder bay to get it.

I ordered mine a few weeks ago and the only information that I had to put was my parents names, my birth date, the city I was born and a guarantor. I believe everything else was optional..but like you said if you don't have certain information it would probably take longer. I was lucky enough to know the hospital where I was born and I think this made it easier. Would another relative have any information that would maybe help?

Here is the link to the ordering website. You can expedite it and get it within 5 business days for 30 dollars more.

We got all that stuff and the hospital, we just didnt know the physician or his mother, or fathers middle names, or his weight or height at birth, you know little details like that. none of his relatives are talking to us, we had a pretty big falling out but how long did yours take to get to you with the information you gave?

Hmmm...out of the information you just said the only thing I provided was my mom's middle name (had no idea what my dad's is). I didn't include my weight or height at birth. I got mine 1.5 weeks later and had no issues. I found that when I was filling out the online form a lot of the stuff was optional..i believe birth weight and height were optional.

I've just had a look back. I got mine, all the way to NZ, in 4 weeks. It was intersting when it came, to read my Father's handwriting, and find out who the Doc was, and where they were living, and what I weighed. I didnt know any of that beforehand.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

My husband was born in Ontario. We used the short form for the biometrics appointment but the officer said we will need the long form for the interview otherwise we will be denied. We just applied for the long form and there is an expedited option but the processing centers are currently processing faster than 5 weeks unless they cannot find the information. If you have the basics you will probably be fine. We didn't have any of that extra information available either but ours was processed in about 3 weeks and is on the way.
