Supporters of an Oklahoma City police officer who was charged with raping or sexually abusing eight black women have raised more than $7,000 for the 27-year-old cop.

Daniel Holtzclaw was arrested in August on charges of rape, forcible oral sodomy, sexual battery, and indecent exposure for allegedly sexually assaulting women while on patrol. He is being held on $5 million bond.

Friends and family of the three-year veteran of the Oklahoma City Police Department have created a Facebook page called “Justice for Daniel Holtzclaw.” They insist the criminal allegations against him are false, and have been using the page to try to sell shirts that read, “Free the Claw” and “#JusticeForDanielHoltzclaw.”

More than 500 people have “liked” the Facebook page.

Looks like if you're a victim, your skin color dictates the amount of sympathy/rage you'll receive.

Especially when the accused cop is Asian.

You got me. With a name like Daniel Holtzclaw, I'd be outraged too.

the victims are black, not the cop.

Right. The cop is Asian, not white, nothing to see here.

That is quite the name.

In regards to the story. it does appear to be a blatant abuse of power on behalf of the cop. Hopefully he will punished in accordance with the laws. As for the people supporting him, there's weirdos everywhere. Even the Westboro Baptist Church is in no shortage of supporters and followers.

1. This is exactly the kind of backlash Michael Brown, The Lacrosse team, Brawley etc etc have created and will continue to create, when real problems surface people think, here we go again.

2. Why is so very not politically correct to mention race, when a crime occurs, but it has to be highlighted when there is a victim? Why is it uber important that te women be identified as black.? If the officer had been black and was accused of raping white women, would the streets be filled with protestors again. Probably.

3. If found guilty hang the POS

1. There will always be liars. Do we apply the same logic to rape victims? In order to get justice, we have to be virtually sin free. Why is that?

2. Because when it's a black person involved, the entire dynamic changes. Look at Michael Brown. On the day his shooter's identity was released, that still was put out, yet he wasn't stopped for such. The white kid who had felony charges and was shot, I'll bet his criminal record wasn't paraded to the media, and he had a felony. The black cop who shot him, did you donate to his legal defense? Where's his website? Where's his we support you crowd? If this cop were black and all the women were white, why would you protest? He'd be under the jail or dead. Victim or perp, you'll still be on trial.

3. Agree.

So if a victim is black it gets no outrage.. I thought you were from St Lou ?

Rape is wrong, regardless of race, color or creed. And to be politically correct, sex too. Men get raped by men and women, talk about having it tough.

All I keep thinking about is that episode of Law and Order when that male stripper was raped by those three women. That was a rough case.

Born and raised. I'm talking about if the roles were reversed. Do you think if the women were white and he was black, he'd have a support page?
