This may not be news to some of you, but I found out how you can check on the processing time of your field office and whether they are on time or experiencing a delay.

When you check your status on the USCIS website, click the link below that page for "USCIS processing times information", then type in your field office.

Or try this address that I copied from the site:


I found that the Fresno, CA office as of end October was just processing early May applications. Makes me think my interview will be around Feb - Mar.

Other areas which are on time will just show, for example "5 months", which I believe is the benchmark for N-400 processing.

Got it, December 29th. Very convenient since I am on vacation till end of the year anyway.

Great news, kzielu!!! Congrats! :dance:

I've started studying for the civics test (in between Christmas cooking!) and have a question I was hoping someone could help me with. For questions with multiple answers (that DON'T specify to give only one answer) do you have to learn all possible answers? An example would be "What does the judicial branch do?" If asked, is it enough to answer "reviews laws"? Or are you expected to answer reviews laws, explains laws, resolves disputes, and decides if a law goes against the Constitution?

So the ceremony was in court building in downtown Cinci (South Ohio District Court). We were asked to come at 12:30pm, ceremony was supposed to start at 2pm. They sat us down at the assigned seats, collected green card, then collected signed oath notices (since those contained question to answer whether you had done something that would make you ineligible since interview) and we waited for the judge to show up. Judge made a nice speech (she was grand daughter of imigrants from Italy, showed us copies oftheir certificates - it was kind of neat, then two guys from both OH senators read their letters (kind of generic, probably written by interns ;-) ) then oath and we were handed over the certificates.

~70 people from 40 countries.

Some interesting things :

- several people did not show up.

- some people had a problem with their name change - messed up paperwork and weren't quite sure what they wanted / couldn't explain it due to poor english. Lady next to me changed her mind vs. what she put on N-400 and was told that she will be rescheduled for next month. At the end, USCIS officer told her they will try to work it out today (print certificate with different name) - was kind of nice of him.

- despite told on the notice "report promptly at 12:30pm", several people were late. One dude (already had a pin with american flag in his coat) showed up an hour late.

- notice said to dress appropriately "No jeans, t-shirts or flip-flops". Several guys showed up in jeans, one showed up in camouflage shirt/pants and sneakers - looked like insurgent from the jungle. Apparently some people have different standards.

Overall it was pretty cool, as said above - really nice way to end the year. It went surprisingly quick for me - same as for AOS and RoC - apparently Cincinnati local office is either very efficient, not very busy or both. At the end, my experience with USCIS overall past 3.5 years was excellent, quick and very professional.
