How much time has to pass before filing I-129F inquiry?

Does anyone know how much time has to pass before being able to file an inquiry? Looking at the average processing times on USCIS, along with their little write up about "please wait for 6 months before filing an inquiry" my case is beyond both of them. The website still won't let me file an inquiry though. When I fill in all the information it says that my case has not passed the required processing time. Would just like some insight as to what that processing time actually is, considering the inquiry page says 6 months...

Have you tried calling USCIS ?

if not call them and ask to speak to a Tier2 rep not a 1 they are a waste.

Make sure to have you recp number, name of petitioner and benificary, dates of birth for both.

What information do people usually get from a Tier 2 officer? I talked to one about my case, and they said they put an inquiry to the TSC and I should get a letter updating me about my petition in two weeks. Is that normal? I am assuming it will be a standard, "we are processing your petition, please wait 60 days...."

A tier one usually doesn't have any relevant information or make any reference to your specific file... in my experience. If you ask to speak to a Tier 2 they will usually look at your files and can be more specific and/or take action to get things moving. You've been waiting more than 5 months. I would think you are due for a result. If nothing happens in 2 weeks then definitely call again.

Hi guys,

Thank you all for the replies. I've called in numerous times but only spoken to a Tier 1 CSR. I just called in and requested a Tier 2 Officer. The current wait time is 64 minutes so it looks like I'll be on hold for a while. Does anyone have anything specific that I should ask them? Obviously I'm going to bring up the fact that my case has been in review for over 6 months with no updates... I will mention that I know of other people from January, February and March at TSC who have all been approved. Anything else you guys can think of that might help out? I guess I can mention that I've had some congressional inquiries too.

I would just simply ask. Tell them you many many cases from all over are flowing and even done and you are patiently waiting. Can some one please help you understand why. Most of the time it is just in how you ask and f you are polite or rude.i am always nice and polite in the beginning until it is time not to be

Just bringing it to the attention of a Tier 2 is the thing.. they can see where you are up to and how long you've waited. You have probably spoken by now.. I hope they have made some progress on your behalf.

Just got off the phone and needless to say I am pretty angry. The "Tier 2 Officer" that I spoke with was literally 20x worse than any regular customer service person that I've ever spoken with (and I've talked to a lot of them). She basically told me that what ever the USCIS website says is wrong and that they are still working on December 31 cases. She said that there's no guarantee that my case will be looked at in the next couple of months or that it will even be approved. By this point I was pretty ticked off and just said, "you've literally be no help to me at all." Her response was that I could write a letter with my concerns to the Director.

Sorry to hear that... it sounds more like what I would expect from a Tier 1. The standard responses etc. Some can be more helpful than others. I would try again maybe earlier in the day when the wait time is shorter. It shouldn't be this difficult.. but seems to be.

I filed on Dec 16, 2013 (TSC).

I called after few months, and they said to call back after 5 months.

So I called around May 20th, and they said to call back after "full" 5 months (meaning beginning of June).

On June 2, while I was calling, I checked the web site and it showed it was approved. (5.5 months)

After that, everything moved at pretty good pace.

Due to lack of transparency, can you imagine the volume of calls they are receiving and costs involved?

Had they invested some of that money to build more transparent system so that we can check accurate

status and processing queue, then we wouldn't be at dark and don't have to call so much.

Just a hunch (and a wish)...that your approval is coming soon.

I'm not even going to bother with those idiots at USCIS (TSC). After seeing so many approvals from the April and May transfers to CSC already, it is pretty obvious where the real problem lies. I am going to go straight to my senators and congressmen this week.

If you are within 30 days of normal processing time, that is exactly what they will tell you. And your Senator and Congress Member will tell you the same thing. Tried both.
