Congrats to you , iam sept 30 filer , was a conditional green card holder earlier , had to leave US because of some issues and could not get my card renewed.

That is why my spouse had to again file i130 for me.

Hope my approval is coming soon and refiling doesnt cause any further delays and issues

Thank you I pray that your approval is soon I know how frustrating the wait is.

Hi VJ Family!!! Just found out my case at NVC was completed today!!!!! ONLY 10 DAYS FROM SCAN DATE! Tip for everyone: organize packet the cleanest and a simplest way possible. I could never believe when officer said that! Now we are waiting for interview.

Also I waited for both fees to be paid before sending out the 2 packets together.

The day they will tell you they received your package is your scan date. Out of curiosity, did you send Iv package too or just AOS? Your timeline has only AOS. Remember your review time for your case will start when they receive BOTH packages.

Happy Friday Everyone!

I've received an email from NVC, finally they assigned a case number to us. I've called them to notify them that there was an error with the spelling of my husband's first name. They said I can send an e-mail explanation and copy of my husband's passport, which I've done. Hopefully this won't further delay our NVC process.

I've asked about when the invoice payment can be made, the agent stated that 24 hours has to pass after receiving that case # and invoice e-mail from them. So she said I can make a payment tomorrow, is that true? Did any of you had to wait 24 hours after receiving the invoice and case number to make a payment or was she just trying to delay my application process even further?

She said to wait until tomorrow than make the payment than submit the DS261 form. Can someone who has already went thru this first step of the NVC process tell me what exactly I should be doing? I don't want to do the wrong things and loose more time, I am a September 2014 filier and it already has been way too long.

Thank you,

Thank you,

What you were told sounds accurate. Usually it takes a day or two after the case number is assigned for the AOS fee to be invoiced and the DS-261 to be opened. You can keep checking the payment center to see if the fee is issued, if it makes you feel better. You need your case number and IIN (immigrant identification number) to access the site. Some people have their fees invoiced very quickly, while for others it takes a little longer.

Once you have paid the fee (must be paid from a US bank account) it will take up to three business days for it to appear as "PAID".

Once you submit your DS-261 you can call to have it reviewed after a week or two. Sometimes the agent will not agree to review it for you, stating that you must wait 30 days. I waited 2 weeks and then called, and I had no issue. A few days after your DS-261 is reviewed, your IV fee should be unlocked. (In my case, there is an error in my file and it's taking a lot longer. I've been on the phone with the NVC trying to work it out. Ughhh) Once your IV fee is paid, your DS-260 should appear.

You can save some time by submitting your packages (AOS and IV supporting documents) after your AOS fee is paid. When the NVC receives those files, it will be your scan date, from which the 30 days to process your case or get a checklist will start. You need to make sure to include your bar coded cover sheet you get from the receipt of the AOS bill with both the AOS and the IV package.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions feel free to ask me.

Just my luck :(

I've entered the case # and Invoice ID # that NVC sent via e-mail but, when enter these numbers I get an error message stating that the numbers that I've entered doesn't matched the numbers they have in their records. I don't get this, I am entering the exact same numbers they gave. I tried calling NVC but I keep getting the same annoying message saying that they have lots of calls coming in so that I should try to call later. Has anyone had a similar problem with the case # and invoice id # ?

Also, when I was going thru the steps on NVC's web site from that letter that I've got. It says that first I should select an 'agent' I guess this is the DS261 form that everyone is referring to? It says after selecting the agent I should give NVC 15 days before I do the 2nd step which is paying the fee. Everyone else here made is sound like they are paying the fee at the same day as they fill out the DS261 form. Isn't that how it is supposed to be done?

Below are the steps from that NVC e-mail that I've got.

Step 1. Choose an agent
Step 2. Pay fees
Step 3. Submit visa application form
Step 4. Collect financial documents
Step 5. Collect supporting documents
Step 6. Submit documents to the NVC
They've also sent another e-mail to me that had an attachment addressed to my husband with exact same information. Do I need to follow the above steps separately one for him one for me? I was under the impression that I will only need to pay 1 fee now and select the agent for our case (one form of DS261 as a joint form). Am I reading into this wrong? Can someone let me know please?
Thanks,
