Hello,

I am also from the Bahamas. We submitted my I-130 in July 2012. We got our NOA1 via e-mail about three weeks after we sent the package via Fedex and the hard copy came about a week later in the mail. Did you give USCIS a US address or a local Bahamian POBox number?

When I would call USCIS i would have my husband on skype to verify who he was and then they would speak to me. So if you have skype and your husband is avaliable then put him on speaker and he can answer any questions they ask him. It would be as if he is right there.

My husband didn't get our NOA1 either at first cause it was returned by the post office. He sent an official request for a new NOA1 letter through their website. Got it a week later so try that. USCIS have a link on their website for case updates.

I submitted I-130 petitioning for my wife last September, my priority date is september 4th. On November I took my oath to become US Citizen so on December I called to upgrade and I mailed and faxed the document needed. Anyway on February 4Th I got an email from USCIS

On February 4, 2015, we transferred your Form I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN, to another USCIS office. That office now has jurisdiction over your case. We sent you a notice that explains why we moved your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by March 6, 2015, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators. If you have filed an I-485, I-589, I-751, N-400, I-90, I-821, I-131 or I-765, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken. The timing of your appointment is determined by the number of applicants ahead of you that also need a biometric appointment. We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application. We will send your appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of your scheduled appointment. It is important that you keep this appointment. If absolutely necessary, you can request that your appointment be rescheduled however, please be aware that rescheduling may delay the processing of your application. Please follow the instructions on your appointment notice if you need to reschedule. Occasionally, you may receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints taken when you have filed a form other than those listed above. In these situations, you may receive your appointment notice more than 30 days after submitting your application or petition.

I called USCIS today and I talked to tier 2 officer, and they told me I should expect an interview

Is this normal, because my wife is still overseas. Did this usually happen to someone before.

Hi there and congrats! That interview is most likely for you since you have just upgraded case. As a permanent resident you would have much longer for process to petition for wife. Now you will be held as US citizen petitioning for wife and go at usual pace, but since you have passed at least 5 months from when you petitioned they might speed up approval. Lets hope for the best! Good Luck!
