Hi everyone! I sent my I864 package for my mom's case on August 8th. On the Consular Electronic Application Center website, the column where it says 'Affidavit of Support Documents & Financial Evidence' still shows 'N/A'. Will it ever change to 'received'? I am getting very concerned about this.

Also i am preparing the IV package and i know in order to obtain a police report, my mom has to have the letter from NVC first:

An applicant should be prepared to present the following items:

  1. the original and a photocopy (for each applicant) of the letter from NVC which contains his/her name and the checklist of documents necessary for obtaining a visa (the one that references the need for police certificates);

Will my mom be getting the letter soon? I am getting more and more confused on this process and really appreciate your help!

thank you so much!

it'll never change - that functionality won't get set anytime this year, so disregard that status. easier to call in, talk with a human at NVC for real status.

as to the letter - it's in a set of instructions that's clickable via clickthrough at the payment portal.

are you certain your mom actually needs this letter, prior to actually applying for the police clearance certificate/report? it's rare, to need such a letter, but some countries (a small number) actually require something from NVC or the IV Unit before they start even to make the report.

if'n you had a country selected in yer profile, I could give a focused answer.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Hi Darnell, thank you so much for your input. My mom is located in Hong Kong, China. Unfortunately they require to have the letter from NVC first. The following is their instruction (instruction # 2):

  1. his/her Hong Kong Identity Card or valid travel document;
  2. the original and a photocopy (for each applicant) of the letter from NVC which contains his/her name and the checklist of documents necessary for obtaining a visa (the one that references the need for police certificates);
  3. the original and photocopy of a document proving his/her relationship with the principal applicant for the visa if item #2 does not contain the applicant's name;
  4. a full set of the applicant's fingerprints taken and certified by a recognized and official police or law enforcement agency where the applicant currently resides. Certification of the fingerprints must clearly state: (i) the full name and rank of the person taking the prints, (ii) the full name of the police or law enforcement agency with their official chop; and (iii) the date and place the prints were taken. Prints that do not clearly show certification will be refused. Fingerprints taken by the applicant him/herself, a legal representative or private/commercial agency are also unacceptable;
  5. a bank draft in the amount of HK$205 per person, made payable to "The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region." The draft must be payable in Hong Kong. A personal check in Hong Kong dollars, which is issued an authorized by any licensed banks in Hong Kong, is also acceptable.

I guess i will try to contact Hong Kong Police headquarters and find out more information first. Thank you for your help again!
