Becuse as I have found out some people don't do analogies well. I am sure the low information voters will accuse him of calling the children

Who you calling a child?

the reason i said they weren't valid questions is because they're all superficial. my perspective on race comes from a lifetime of dealing with race, in this country. i've never lived in a city like detroit. and since i'm female, maybe it's easier for me to admit - if in the middle of a walk home late at night, i see a man walking down the street coming toward me, i'm going to be nervous no matter his race.

i remember going over to a friends house afterschool and being absolutely terrified of my friend's grandparents. she had told me they didn't like white people. they would roll their eyes whenever i walked in the living room (until they got used to me).

i had a similar experience, with another friend's mother, who insisted i was only her daughter's friend so i could get my triflin white ####### in with some black guys. she always tried to come up with a reason not to allow me over.

what if this was all i had to go on concerning black people? i could have easily thought black people do nothing but cling to race.

Superficial? I don't think so. I was trying to get a bit of background on being around blacks. It colors your perspective, for sure, based on your exposure.

Just a SWAG, but I'd imagine her grandparents had good reason to not like white people. At your advanced age now, they probably had close family members who were slaves, or at least post-slave who were still treated less than human.

Blacks DO cling to race. As do whites and all other races. It's natural to do so. Honestly, I don't think our world, or even our nation, will ever be able to ignore race or cultural differences completely. But that's not really the problem. Treating them as if they are beneath you on the food chain, therein lies the problem. And if you don't do that, keep fostering that attitude among all that you have influence over. It's all anyone can do.

I've always respected Kathryn. Whether I agree with her or not, she always explains herself with class.

Dave is black??

I will tell you something else. She has a killer memory. No matter what poster we talked about she knew them and something about them. Not necessarily a good thing for most of us CHEST nut jobs

So dealing with one foreign woman on a daily basis isn't enough for you? You want to take on thousands? Good luck with that.

I got mods for that.

Here's what I can't understand:

There are hundred, if not thousands, of educated and intelligent black men and women who have written and talked about the institutionalized racism that exists within society today. These are doctors, lawyers, and business folks who have experienced what people here say doesn't exist on a sometimes daily level. The mantra of it's all on black people seems to be the only thing that anyone wants to have a conversation about.

So, if 75% of black people feel like the system is broken, that there are inconsistencies that need to be dealt, they're blaming racism and it can't be true. One black person comes out and says it's on you black people, this renders all those other experiences moot? Is this the new common core? One person's experience's negates the majority?

No, one persons experience doesn't negate anything. IMO, the young man in this video touched upon the major stereotypes that people have concerning blacks. We can go back and look at the statistics for murder, percentage of black males in prison, etc etc. This is the image that a lot of people seem to have about blacks, even up here in the North with all of us liberals. The black doctors, lawyers, businessmen etc aren't the people this kid was referring to. In my largely white immediate area and surrounding towns, the blacks are largely professionals and living in white neighborhoods in houses costing from 500K and up, some in the millions. These are not the people contributing to the negative image.

If we go to Brockton, Mattapan, etc, we'll see more of the stereotyped people he is calling out. I'm sorry, but I can't blame the things that are wrong in my life on what my parents didn't do 40 years ago, it's all on me. I am responsible for me, what I do and how I interact with others. Doing drugs is a choice. Robbing people is a choice. having 6 kids with 5 different men is a choice. And this applies to all races, not just blacks.

I will tell you something else. She has a killer memory. No matter what poster we talked about she knew them and something about them. Not necessarily a good thing for most of us CHEST nut jobs

Did my name come up?

Yes and he IS a gun owner as well. I don't see my views on guns changing anytime soon. I don't like them, but I'm not looking to take that right away from anyone. That's sound pretty middle of the road to me.

Spooky is a Massachusetts liberal, doesn't get any worse.

But I'm a conservative liberal. Or a liberal conservative. I hope it doesn't mean I'm bi.

So black people can't be racist. ??

So not wanting you in their home is not liking white people, when a black person does it, but if it is done it reverse it's racist ?

In order to be racist, you have to be able to deny someone something. In this case, what the mother did was racist. Bonus points for using the words triflin ### in a sentence, Val.

Spend that billions on infrastructure. It will look like a war zone in 10 years, unless you change the mindset

You know what's sad, I have seen this happen to housing projects that were renovated from top to bottom. Trashed from within. That mindset does need to change. Why do so many get in an uproar when a fair criticism is pointed out? It has nothing to do with being racist.

and we're talking about perspective, so i gave you two examples of things that happened in my life that altered my perspective. of course they had close family members who were slaves, but they'd also had crappy experiences with white people. in the case of my friends grandparents, my friend was mixed - her white mother had abandoned her and her siblings to their father's parents so she could join some crazy church cult. so her actions, because she is white, fueled their belief that white people are plain crazy.

like i said, i see value in multiple races, cultures and don't want to all of us as 'the same'. and as far as what i have influence over, that's fine if we're talking about personal accountibility alone, but what about institutionalized racism?

Thank You. Triflin.. If you are from an all white uper class area you don't have a clue. I had two black female inventory assistants. They did not get along. Triflin was a word they used when really mad .

Triflin usually modified a vulgar word. Much like the N word white people can not use it. Heck I don't even think black men can use it

to clarify, when i said infrastructure i meant the infrastructure of the community - which would be education, primarily.

You could spend 5 billion per student. If they have no social structure at home, it would be money down the drain

35. i was probably 12-13 then. and these are her grandparents we're talking about.

that's simply not true.

that's simply not true.

So in 1994 you friends had grandparents that were slaves. You do realize that if the grandparents would have to have been about 150

and it is absolute true. You can give each student their own teacher, but if you send them back into the hood at the end of the day., you will get the same outcome
