Done with medicals and biometrics. Received medical reports :)

Tried calling Mumbai embassy for rescheduling the interview to an earlier date. They refused to budge.

Why does India not reschedule when every other embassy does! :(

I dont want to be waiting until 7th or 8th for my visa and pp.

It is possible, owing to a long weekend (2nd Oct to 6th Oct), They will clear the visa and return the pp on the same day? Has it ever happened that people have got a pickup notification the same day?

Thanks :)

Well, just packing and reorganizing my "immigration documents" binder - heading to Montreal tomorrow and my interview is on Friday! I'm nervous, especially because of Montreal's stickyness on the "domicile" issue - hubby is living here in Canada with me and we have limited evidence of domicile, since he's self-employed here and will continue to be self employed when we get to the US.

But aside from the incredibly long waits for processing, everything else has gone smoothly, no RFEs or checklists so I think everything's in order. On the plane at 7:40am (Pacific) tomorrow morning, interview at 8:30am (Eastern) tomorrow! Wish me luck!

Nightingalejules:

What are you doing about 'address to receive green card"? I am sponsoring my husband, and we both live in Toronto. I will not have a definite address until a couple of months prior to moving, maybe by the time of interview I will have a confirmed address.

When and how can we supply an address for the green card to be mailed?

Anyone else who knows, please chime in.

Thanks.

When you create an ELIS account to pay the $165 immigrant fee, you'll enter an address to receive the green card. As far as I know this one takes precedence over the others you've supplied throughout the process, but since that info came from a USCIS INFOPASS appointment, perhaps it should be taken with a grain of salt :bonk:

Hi! What do you mean income not sufficient? Was it below the poverty line and NVC did not check it or your case was expedited?

A third possibility is that an AOS meeting the official requirements is simply not accepted by the consulate for whatever reason. Some are much pickier than others. Most commonly, if you're close to poverty guidelines you may get through NVC but then have the consulate require you get a joint sponsor. Years ago I was a joint sponsor for a friend in that position. He had been unemployed for his most recent tax year and barely cleared poverty guidelines. He had since resumed working and his current income was more than sufficient to meet the requirements, but Moscow delayed visa approval at the interview pending a joint sponsor.

Thanks... Yes, my reason was 4 kids that I wanted to enroll in US schools as early as possible.

That's great you got through then. Our reason would be so my husband can start a job in the States as early as possible. But not too sure if that is a legitimate reason?

It would be a valid reason I think if he had a time-sensitive contract already. But really, if they had empty slots that they don't expect to be filled, why wouldn't they reschedule anyway?

One thing for sure, you won't get rescheduled if you don't ask.

I had no idea, either, prior to our INFOPASS appointment. We were there trying to resolve the error in my husband's name, but the agent mentioned there was no address on file in ELIS for the card to be mailed to when it was produced. I was a little blown away given how many forms we've included our address on, but apparently it had to be entered on ELIS too. When we got home I logged on and sure enough, there's a Profile section that somehow wasn't covered during account creation. The physical and mailing address sections there were blank, as well as biographic information for my husband (DOB, country of birth, country of citizenship, etc.).
