Ok, so since it seems like there's a lot of confusion on the "new process" and what to do, here's my two cents.

For those just getting to NVC, then the process will likely be (by the sounds of the updated NVC website):

-fill out DS-261 (once case number is assigned)

-have both bills invoiced around the same time, once the DS-261 is reviewed

-fill out the DS-260 once it's available

-once both fees are showing as PAID, send ONE package containing both the AOS and IV paperwork

-respond to any checklists

-case complete

For those already currently at NVC and halfway through the process, nothing is going to change. Still finish NVC as normal. If you want to send the IV package, do so at your own risk. Use the AOS cover sheet. (And for those doing this, please stop freaking out so much what address is used for the IV package, it will get routed to the correct department if you use the wrong one).

Step 1: Choose an Agent

Please allow 15 days for the NVC to process your DS-261 before continuing to the next step.

Step 2: Pay Fees

If you pay online, please allow five days for the NVC to process your fee payments before continuing to the next step.

Step 3: Submit Visa Application Form

After you pay your fees, you and each qualified family member immigrating with you must complete the Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration (Form DS-260) in the Consular Electronic Application Center

Step 6: Submit Documents to the NVC

After you collect your Affidavit of Support form(s) and financial evidence in Step 4, and supporting documents in Step 5, you must submit all of the documents in ONE package to the NVC. Your case may be significantly delayed if you fail to submit all of your documents in one package.

Please allow 60 days for the NVC to review your forms and documents.

SWEEEET ..... THAT SAVES TIME !!!!

AND IT KEEPS ALL THE DOCUMENTS IN ONE PLACE !!

Good tip!

Just spoke to Arthur at the NVC and he said NOT to send the IV package and to wait until we have paid the bill. So is this change official, or is it just some shortcut that has been discovered? Haha. I asked him if there'd been a change to this process recently enabling people to send both things at once and he said no. He also said that our ds-261 might be "in the building" but it's still being processed even though it says "completed" on the invoice page so... is Arthur a little behind the times or something? :|

Seems like NVC process steps will change from now on. Again, you got so many suggestions on what to do and must be really confused. However, I second Molly&Juan that you should call and speak to at least 4 different NVC agents and go with what the majority of them tell you, preferably try to speak to a supervisor. In the end, just do what your heart says.

Received 60 days email from NVC this morning. Sent IV documents on September 3rd and they scanned it in their system on Sept. 5th that's the date letter is showing. The thing that worries me I didn't get the 60 days email in August when I sent my AOS package.

Really is that something to worry about? As long as it's with NVC it's good, so relax.

So is there any hope for people who are getting approved now (like me) to think that our spouses can join us by Dec/Jan? My first anniversary is in January and I'm praying that I can spend it with him here in US as it would be nearly impossible for me to go visit. :(

hey, I believe that with the new changes they just had made it will take less than 6 months in nvc.

I hope to be in USA in Jan/Feb.

Question regarding AOS fee 'PAID':

I paid AOS fee on Sept 3. On the payment portal, my account shows 'PAID', I am able to print a receipt. The amount has been debited from my bank account.

However on the other portal, the Immigrant Visa portal, The AOS fee however says N/A. (The DS-261 shows Completed, I did this also Sept 3).

Is this normal? Should I try to phone NVC regarding AOS fee showing N/A on the Immigrant Visa portal, but PAID on payment portal?
