Did you get yours from the police station or passport office? and what documents do u need to get the PCC? like do they ask the reason for the PCC? Did you take any letters from nvc to the passport office?

Let me shed some light on my experience :

For NVC. you only need a PCC from the Passport Office. The process is simple:

1. open passportindia.gov.in and fill up the for for online pcc

2. "DO NOT" pay online or schedule an appointment at the passport office ( aka PSK/Passport Seva Kendra)

3. Upload the PCC eform on the website and take a printout.

4. Walk in anytime between 9 to 11 AM. Yes, PCC is issued without an appointment.

5. You will be asked to pay a fee of Rs 500 (~ $10) and you will be issued a PCC within 2 hours on the same day.

Now let me give you some background on it:

1. The above situation is IDEAL. That is if the passport was made recently/within 1 year ( or 6 months). In my situation, I ran out of passport pages so I had to get a new one anyway.

2. Also, "SPOUSE NAME" has to be in the passport. It isn't required by the embassy but it is Prerequisite for PCC issuance.

3. If your spouse's passport was made before you guys got married, he will have to get a new passport made. (they no longer endorse spouse names on existing passport. Apparently they love making our lives hard.)

ok got it.. thank you..and the documents required to get that??

Just take your passport. Thats all they needed at the Chandigarh passport office.

Not so fast! They now go by the date they received your package (rather than the scan date)!

Remember the 60-day email from NVC? The date in the letter was July 22nd because that's when they received my IV package. :content:

My checklist package was delivered 7/18 morning (via Fedex). The 60 day email says 7/21. When I call, they say 7/22.

I guess there are 3 piles:

- incoming mail (7/18)

- scheduled to be scanned (7/21)

- scheduled to be reviewed (7/22)

Hello,

You have very clearly mentioned everything.. really appreciate your help for others.

But this is my experience, You dont need to add the spouse name in the passport. I dont have my spouse's name on my passport. They dint have any issue. I just told that only issue is I wont get my PCC right away. Because my spouse's name was not on my passport, they sent my papers to crime branch etc, and I got my PCC after 15 days. Also I had already submitted my old passport copy at the start of the immigration and I dint want any issues by making a new passport etc. So I avoided changing my passport with addition of my spouse;s name.

Also, I did not submit my PCC to NVC, I did get a checklist for it, but it dint not stop my case from getting complete and getting an interview. All they told me is to get it during the interview. Had I waited to submit the PCC, my case would not have been completed.

Just for better understanding,

I sent my IV package on June 23rd.

I applied for my PCC on 24th June, went to the passport office and finished all the preliminary work for the same, I was asked to wait for a text from them once the police and crime branch checks were done. I was called to my local police station on 5th of July, for signature, after which my papers were sent to the passport office. I got a text that my papers were ready. That is when all I did is went to the passport office with my passport and got my PCC finally on 12th July.

I did not send this to NVC. I will be taking it with me for my interview on Oct 1st.

Hope this helps too.

Your Consulate is Mumbai.

I mentioned the above in relation to New Delhi consulate and PSKs in the north.

PSks in Delhi and Punjab do not issues PCCs without spouse name endorsement as a rule.

And NVC has been completing cases for Mumbai Consulate applicants without PCC for years. But it's a different story here.

All the best for your interview. I hope our cases complete soon as well.

I totally understand. I havent seen my son after I came back to India. It definitely is hard. It's been 18 months that we got married. I travelled from time to time but entering with a pending I130 is risky. So am waiting it to finish for once and for all!

Thank you so much!! Does my hubby need to add my name in his passport even if we are getting police certificate from Jaipur or is the spouse name only required in Delhi psk?

Well it's worth a try. I'm not sure about Rajasthan region. In punjab and delhi they def send you back and ask u to get a new passport first. So thats just another day wasted.

here's one thing:

look up PCC jaipur on expatforum.com . That's where i found how to do it.

Just visited the website.. Didn't find helpful info about the pcc Jaipur..people there are just as desperate to find out the experience at the Jaipur PSK..:( I've been getting bad news all day.. My hubby's passport was issued from Jaipur which is 8-10 hours away from where he lives..that's why we are planning on getting pcc from there.. It ll be really disappointing if he goes there and comes back with NOTHING.. Thank you once again for all the help with the form and the info.. Oh and What does he need to take with him at the office?-- sorry for all these questions.. Only I know what m going through.. :( :( :(
