NVC Filers - September 2014

While our IV fee hasn't been officially invoiced yet, I called the NVC on Wednesday night (9/3) after being on hold for an hour and they said that my DS-261 had been approved earlier that day. She said we should expect to see the invoice on the CEAC portal within 5 business days (so 9/10 at the latest I guess)...

Will be sending off the IV packet ASAP once that happens.

We submitted our DS-261 on July 31. - so these invoicing timeframes for the IV fee seem to be all over the map.

One more question Friend , I have one more question :

Is there a need to fill the documents in a particular color Ink ?

AOS (i-864) - Which color

& other forms which i color because i remember reading some thing about black color ink on some thread ?

Complete and sign the forms in black ink. Someone got check listed for signing in blue.

Hi Guys! I finally got a case complete. Im a bit relieved since ive been here for many months. Last scan date was july 15th, just called an hour ago and spoke to Lee who confirmed my cc. The ceac portal never had my aos fee change from paid to n/a. They may have fixed that now.

I wanted to sincerely extend my regards and best wishes to everyone here and I hope you are reunited with your partners very soon.

Can you only imagine what they say about our Arab loved ones, I can just hear it. Everyone seems to think any Arab or Muslim is automatically a terrorist. Just shameful.

I won't start a discussion on what should be one way or the next - to be honest we all have our reasons and 'situations' that cause a family to want to go back to the US or reunite there. I would assume moving out of the country for just filing for a GC would be unethical, however not sure about illegal.

Anyways I'm neither - I've been away from the US for 9 years now - my kids and family have been away from their family for quite sometime and we all want speedy processing for everyone.

Personally, I'm more concerned by the ethics and legality of USCIS making arbitrary and sweeping decisions regarding which cases to expedite and which to hold back.

We had called last week and they told us that they were reviewing the IV Package and that we should wait 60 days...

We were going to call this week again, on Thursday 04th, but on Wednesday 03rd we both received an email, with the date of the interview.

I read VJ pretty much everyday (although hubby tells me not to as I end up becoming obsessed/paranoid/blubbering mess) - but rarely post.

Just want to thank you all for writing on here so often, it is helpful and I am so glad it exists, otherwise I wouldn't have a clue!!

Quick question, I've seen some people received an email with case number and IIN, is that because of the e-notification that's with our package or because they've given over their email addresses to NVC before it's assigned?

Thank you all again, sending positive thoughts and prayers to all of us in this state of limbo!!

I also talked to NVC yesterday and they said that my DS-261 was reviewed on Wednesday and that I would probably get the e-mail on the weekend. So I am also just over 30 days too

During my weekly 7am call to NVC, which usually results in me banging my head against the kitchen counter, I finally got some good news!

Expedite request approved!!!!!

As someone living/filing from abroad who did not receive an automatic expedite at USCIS (although I honestly don´t understand why they do that) due to the USCIS sh*t storm of 2013, I am soooo happy to finally catch a break!

Since I´m sure someone will ask, my request was due to a normal pregnancy. I know that there are many embassies that would not accept this sort of case, but luckily for me the Santiago embassy does not receive a high volume of cases. So if your local embassy is pretty quiet, you know what to do to get that expedite request *wink wink* (Haha I´m totally kidding!)

As far as timing, I sent the request email on Aug 19, received a response email from NVC on Aug 29 that they forwarded the request to the embassy, and according to the call center lady this morning, the embassy accepted the case on Sept 4 and NVC will ship my case to Chile today. Yay!!! I´m sooo happy to be done with that NVC nightmare!

If you gave USCIS your email address, NVC will have it on file to send your case number and IIN. When I got my numbers over the phone NVC already had my (petitioner) email and only asked me to confirm it.

Yeah, both our email addresses were in the package to USCIS. We'll probably end up calling too, but just wanted to know whether I should look out for emails too.

BTW - I read your blog yesterday. Helped with my postivity!
