Hate to say it, because it's the ONLY benefit we have being citizens of the USA other than that we are just screwed like everyone else. :(smiley-whacky097.gif

Well, we get to vote, and have US passports, and those are benefits... or maybe you meant in regards to immigration ;) ?

Exactly and they are just like everyone else they have good people and bad and they bleed red just like us. All the Arabs I know both Christian and Muslim were extraordinarily nice to me. :( I fear my husband coming hear to be honest I hope no one, well I'll keep that to myself everyone will think I'm more paranoid then I already am. ;) Ty for understanding. :)t4582.gif

Yeah, I understand you on that one.. being married to a not-white foreigner and having a child with him makes me quite a bit more aware of American racism and bias... it's an ugly side to our society.

Do you have to send original copies of the birth certificate? or is a certified copy enough for the IV packet?

You must send the ORIGINALS (plus a photocopy) of all documents other than the passport, The originals will be returned at your interview.

NOTE: In Australia we call it a "certified copy" if it is a photocopy stamped and signed by an official (police, chemist, etc) Please note that terminology is NOT the same in the USA, they would call that "notorised".

The NVC will only accept a "certified copy" if it is obtained directly from the issuing authority (ie. in Australia the office of Births, Deaths and Marriages).

Hi ! I would love to follow this spreadsheet but I am an F2a.... Why so much difference between spouse of citizen and green card holder ? I mean we pay for the same process is not fair ...

I'm not even in a spousal category (EB-1), and still learned a lot from this thread. Recommend you stick long enough to learn of the NVC timelines and pitfalls.

You'd be surprised. I work for a very small company and our managers are constantly in meetings and unavailable to take calls. We get the same reaction from our customers that we're just making it up, but honestly, we're not :P meetings are just a practical alternative to doing actual work, see.

From my experience, frequent and extended meetings are a symptom of a dysfunctional organization. When most of the business is conducted through the meetings, most probably participants do little else outside them, not to mention the wasted man-hours due to large meetings where the majority are there just twiddling their thumbs.

Yeah, I understand you on that one.. being married to a not-white foreigner and having a child with him makes me quite a bit more aware of American racism and bias... it's an ugly side to our society.

I also witnessed the flipside of that coin. I lived in the States for 7 years, and I can tell that some of those "foreigners" are as racist as they accuse Americans to be. Some even refuse to socialize outside their expat circles on principle.

Thank you both, very much. It's wonderful to share this feeling with people who really understand all the effort it takes to get to this point.

Congrats on your cc! I noticed you were scheduled for an interview right away. Did they email you or did you call them?

I know, I was just looking at it too.... our spreadsheet is making me really depressed.

I just studied some signatures too... they have been working on the same date range since about mid August. It just doesn't make sense.... I know they received a lot of packages, but come on. The exponential increase in wait time just doesn't add up.

Maybe this employee picture explains a lot of what's going on at NVC?:rofl::rofl:

Hi Guys! I finally got a case complete. Im a bit relieved since ive been here for many months. Last scan date was july 15th, just called an hour ago and spoke to Lee who confirmed my cc. The ceac portal never had my aos fee change from paid to n/a. They may have fixed that now.

I wanted to sincerely extend my regards and best wishes to everyone here and I hope you are reunited with your partners very soon.

CONGRATULATIONS :dancing: :joy: :dancing::dance:   am so happy for you :dancing: :joy:

Amanda... we're still waiting for the good news. Have you called at the end of the day?

NVC used to finish scheduling the two-weeks accumulated batch of CCs in two days. This time around 4 days of scheduling passed and still counting. I noticed quite a few CC cases still unscheduled, so hopefully there is a fifth day tomorrow.

I read these reviews as well, and the "desperate" part made me laugh out loud! While we weren´t desperate before, 12 months of waiting and fighting over ridiculous checklists will certainly do that to you! I actually wasn´t surprised at all that that´s what they think of us :jest:

tumblr_nb0rw79NWw1tp42tfo1_500.jpg

Hey, gang, did you notice that when you click the link now they've removed the review with the reference to "desperate foreigners"?

OMG I spoke at about 1:15 pm today and the rep said working on July 9????? Seriously they are playing games

Yeah, they have no idea... they might try to remember the scan date from the last person they personally gave a cc to!

Just got my interview date by phone! October 1st less than a month away!!! and now I'm freaking out. :dancing::dancing::dancing:

Woo hoo! Congrats - and I know, right? About the panicking? I'm totally there with you!

I just realized that we did not receive any e-mail confirming that our AoS packages were received (we do electronic processing). Do they send this type of confirmation at all?

We didn't get any confirmations - nor did we get any of the usual "false checklists" that give us a hint about what stage NVC is at. Eventually I got some "package received" info on the phone.

---- And in my world, I have an appointment to (finally) get the results of my titre tests (for some reason the MMR vaccination was not on my vaccination record) and my official medical is next Monday! Then the week after that, it's out to Montreal for the interview!

Oh, and to Austin in particular - we actually found a new apartment (in North Van) in only 2.5 hours! I'm pretty proud of us!

Is your timeline updated?

Oath Ceremony Dec 14th, 2018 I am finally a citizen and done with USCIS for good!

Is that so?..

We are to call anyway as we know the 30/60 days are standard scripts. Let's see how we move as we just have a day difference. We could at least benchmark. Btw, mine is IR-5, but opted to join this tread anyways as a lot of learning are available here.. Good Luck to us.. Cheers!..
