Wait.. So my father will be the first joint sponsor and I am the second? I don't work so I don't have tax transcripts. My father is a citizen so I'll just send his passport copy. I was doing a rough draft on the form and I don't know where to write my name. btw thank you for your quick replies :)

The way I understand it, when you petition fr your spouse, you are the sponsor, not a joint sponsor. That's because you are the immediate family member, and therefore the only person eligible to petition for them. Your father, as your spouse's father-in-law, is not legally able to petition. But, if you don't meet income requirements, you can get a joint sponsor who has more income. In this case your father. So you are the sponsor and he is the joint sponsor. First and second joint sponsor would be if you needed two people to help you meet the income requirements.

So in your case, you would check box 1a on the form, which says "I am the petitioner". On the form for your dad, you or he would check box 1d where it says "I am the only joint sponsor." Both would write your names in the box on question 1 on your respective forms.

I don't know what you would do about tax information if you don't file... I used my dad as a joint sponsor because my income is low, but it's not too low to file, so I had tax forms to send. Maybe someone else out there can chime in? I would guess you would write a letter explaining why you don't file, but see if anyone else can answer with more authority.

Also, read the wiki by Saylin linked on the first page of this thread.... it has a lot of information about the forms.

You're welcome... I'm not a big expert, but when I do have information I try to share it!

Congrats on the process

Pay your fee and send off your IV package and let the 60days wait game starts.......

Hopefully you should have a CC by end of next month. Interview dates depends on your embassy. But I do hope you should have interview sometime around December.

**this is just my own calculation and estimate**

Thnx..the 60 day time wont bother me hopefully coz after sending the iv package my wife is coming to my country from usa.n probably we will go together once i m done with the interview.plz do pray for us :)

Was it Senator Boxer or Feinstein? One of them was a SUPER STAR in obtaining the e-mails between USCIS officials a few months back (through an FOIA request). You're very fortunate to live where you do! My Senators and Representative are totally useless.

Not really it's like NVC random, I'm in CA and my Congresswoman Napolitano office did NOTHING. Senator Boxer's office did send a letter but so late is made no difference at all and told me in a cold snotty way we really can't do much and it's as effective as you sending a letter but we will send it. Apathetic little trolls. t123063.gif

Just checking in everyone :). Me and my wife are going to head off to London tomorrow afternoon to stay over night and be up early Friday for the BIG DAY!.

Quite nervous. So is my wife. Don't know who is more nervous though. I haven't been able to respond or able to catch up on the threads since life has been busy for the past week now. I hope to hear the good news Friday morning :).

All the best those still waiting at NVC! It gets easier once you get passed this stage..

Good luck!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO don't be nervous you'll get through it with flying colors you'll see. But just in case I'll be praying all goes smoothly for you. God Bless you both.

Guys do i need to attach paystubs also if i am sending original employment letter

Thanks

It's optional. I sent only an employment letter, no paystubs (because mine are formatted really strangely, didn't want to confuse anyone) and my AOS was approved, no checklists.

Just called and talked to Amanda. She was nice, but I'm thinking that's only because I didn't make any waves. :girlwerewolf2xn:

She said my last package was "received on the 18th, errr well actually it looks like the 16th".... which is interesting. I feel like they definitely have access to the date your mail actually arrived at NVC now. Not like it changes anything, just interesting.

Then got the very robotic "up to 60 days to finish reviewing your package" response. She did say "up to" and "60 days," not business days.

Coommmeeee onnnnn NVC!

We used firefox to pay aos and iv fees but we did not encounter any problem. Changed to 'Paid the next day after the payment.

Thank you for letting me know, it did change to "Paid" today :)

Keep in mind, it's only been one business day since you paid. Nothing gets done on weekends and holidays.

Thanks Saylin, I was under the illusion that NVC is working on weekends as well  It changed to paid today and have also submitted DS 260 online, now fingers crossed for "CC" without checklist/s :)

We sent our IV package on Aug 11 and didn't get a second 60 days email either!

Wow I never got a second 60 day email for the IV package either, my package was sent august 7. I'm wondering if I should be worried? I sent my documents via EP and the operators can't confirm what they have received only that they have "something". Have any others gotten a second 60 day email for the IV docs?

I guess nothing to worry about it. I'm pretty sure we'll get that "respected" 60 day email one of these days???

NVC should use automated voice system to let everyone know if there are any updates regarding their case and make the CSRs review packages instead.... What a waste of resources....

They actually used to. It was there when I went through in February 2011. You had the option of speaking with an operator or inputting your receipt number/case number and listen to one of a handful of statuses that your case was at. Although it's probably better than nothing, it could have been a lot better. The statuses were delayed by a few days (always faster to speak with an operator) and there was only like 5 different messages. But regardless, it was shut down I believe in 2012, or possibly late 2011.
