I received a letter from my US Senator Barbara Mikulski It reads:

Dear Mrs Hampton

Thank you for contacting my office and giving me the opportunity to assist you. My staff and I will do our best to help you resolve your problem. I have been in touch with the National Visa Center and have asked that this matter be attended to promptly. I will get back to you as soon as I receive a response to my inquiry.

Thanks to my Senator my case was closed Fri. I received a checklist for the Russian police certificate. The same day they received it my case was closed. I did not have to wait. I thank Senator Mikulski for all her help.

I get that it varies by country, but I'm wandering is 60 days delay affecting that time as well (i.e. if for specific country used to take 30 days for interview, did it change to 60 days due to the extra delay they added)?

The 30/60 days is for reviewing packages, it has nothing to do with scheduling interviews. Again, the time frames for interviews are based on the location of your interview and how busy they are, as well as when you get a case complete. If you want a good estimate on current time frames for YOUR country's location, please read the first post.

This is a great idea. I just don't have the coversheet because the fee hasn't come up for payment availability yet which is very frustrating because I have the package ready, and we want to pay the bill so I can start filling in the form! I have all the info including all 16 of my domiciles since I was 16 years of age, LOL I didn't think I'd lived at so many places... and all my job info.. my head is spinning but it's all ready to go.

We could always just email the cover sheet to the PIL when we are ready to post that, huh? I think you might be a genius..

Just trying to be helpful so that you shouldn't realize later that if you did this way it would have saved some time. Also, since you are going to trust your PILs with the form, ask them to scan it and email you so you can see for yourself whether they did everything right. Oh, and yes after paying your fees you get the option of emailing the barcode sheet to any email address you'd like.

I'm the beneficiary, wife of USC.
12/30/2012: Got engaged.
1/16/2013: Got married in India.

I-130:
2/28/2013: Attorney mailed the I-130 from a U.S. address.
3/4/2013: Priority date, NOA1.
11/6/2013: Case was transferred to Nebraska Service Center.

1/6/2014: 60 days of transfer are up, put in an e-request, given 30 days' time. Contacted the senator. Senator asked to wait till Feb 6 and if nothing then she will do something.
2/5/2014: Website status changed to RFE.
2/10/2014: Attorney gets RFE. They need G325A and photos of both me and husband, original marriage certificate, copy of marriage record and it's translation.
2/15/2014: Mailed the requisite documents to husband.
2/19/2014: Documents received by husband.
2/24/2014: RFE mailed.
2/26/2014: Case status changed to RFE review.
3/6/2014: After 367 days, NOA2.

After approval kept calling NVC but NVC always had one reply, file was not in their system. Husband too called USCIS National Customer Service Center and was told case was sent to NVC.
4/2/2014: Write to NSCFollowup to know about the status of the petition.
4/10/2014: Put in a ?service request with USCIS starting with OVP to locate case.
4/16/2014: Reply from NSCFollowup that the U.S. law prohibited that office from responding to anyone other than the petitioner and to have the petitioner contact them.
4/18/2014: Sent email to NVC Research to locate the case.
4/22/2014: Petitioner sent email to NSCFollowup
5/14/2014: Receive email from NVC Research that they do not have a record of receiving the petition.
5/16/2014: Congressman's immigration caseworker contacted supervisor at NSC who said the petition is pending and will be dispatched in two weeks.
5/27/2014: Petitioner received response from NSCFollowup that the case was pending an internal extended review. Really?

Just received my NOA2 email this mornnig. I came on over to soak up some knowledge. I've started completing the forms needed for NVC. I have all the supporting documents ready.

OK, at this point, do yourself a HUGE favor and re-read Saylin's wiki on what to do next.

Read the instructions for the AoS forms very, very carefully (I got 2 checklist rounds for ours. Ugh). And call NVC if you have a question and ask it BEFORE you send that paperwork in. Keep asking til you understand if you have a question. Save yourself the 2-5 weeks extra it'll take if you get a checklist!

And I forgot: Congrats on the NOA2 ;)

Hi All. I've submitted my AOS and IV documents and now I'm waiting until probably the beginning on October for any checklists or CC. I am beginning to doubt some things and I'm looking for some advice about whether or not I should re-submit my I-864. Thanks in advance.

1. My accountant used form 1040 to file my taxes for the last three years. I live outside the US and have the foreign income exclusion. On my tax transcripts, the Total Income line says $0.00 or $1.00 depending on the year and my Adjusted Gross Income line says the same. However, the Wages, Salaries, Tips, Etc. line says the real value, ex. $XX,XXX.00. On my I-864 I put the amount that was listed for Adjusted Gross Income (it's the same as the amount for Total Income), in this case $1.00 for two years and $0.00 another year. Is this right? I have a co-sponsor so the poverty guidelines aren't an issue.

2. Well, I can't remember what my doubt was but it might come to me later. I'm a bit brain-dead today...

1. Sounds correct. If you filed a 1040 for that year, copy the "total income" (I think 1040 line 22) into the associated I-864 line 13 box.

I'm the USC petitioner. My wife is British (now a USC!!!), generally awesome, and amazingly patient.

We we're check listed for a UAE police certificate, which they received 15 Aug but my file arrived at NVC 4 April 2014 and now I am getting tired of the continued 60 day wait. Any help would be appreciated.

You can google to find out who your Senator is. Once you have the name go to thier website and send them the communication release form that they require. Once they receive the completed form they will proceed with contacting NVC on your behalf.

I am so sorry you are going though this. I went on my Senator's website. My Senator reaches out to her constituents and explained that she could help us get through government red tape. I filled out a form she asked for giving her permission to research my case. I also sent her a copy of the 60 days letter we received from NVC and I also wrote a long letter. Explained to her that I felt that US citizens were being treated unfairly and we have priority over other petitioners. I felt that DACA hurt US citizens in this process. I explained I have not seen my husband since last July and he could not be here to see his first child born. It was personal at the same time political. It really depends on your Senator. I hope this helps.

Hello Everyone,

My first post! I've been on here for a few months sporadically in this process getting loads of good advice :) so..thank you! We are just in the NVC process ourselves. I submitted the DS-261 on July 13th 2014....aaaannd still no IV bill invoiced :(

I think i've made a few mistakes after reading a lot of forums and reading about people getting checklists, so i wanted to see what you guys think about it all.

Mistake #1: On the Form I-864EZ, we left a few spots blank. Like Part 3, #9 - place of residence (if diff't from mailing). Also left Name of second employer blank since there's only one employer.

Mistake #2: Signed the form I-864EZ in blue ink! Thought this would be best because we filed using electronic processing. But re-read the instructions and realised they do specifically say black ink.

Mistake #3: On the ceac website, on august 23rd, clicked on the DS-261 link! Argh. Went from complete to incomplete. So i re-completed it, but I didn't get an email from NVC, so i'm hopeful that they are still just considering the july 13th date for submitting the ds-261. I read on the August NVC thread, that the resetting of the date was a glitch and it seems to be fixed - i'm hopeful of this since I don't want to be set back 60 days from august 23rd! I am planning to call NVC to double check next week.

So with the above mistakes, I am resigning myself for a checklist for our AOS package. Since we haven't even submitted the IV package yet, i'm guessing the timeline will be similar for approval of both packages even with a potential checklist. Really really hopeful for a december interview date, but am prepared for a January one...it would really suck if it's later than that!

Anyways, just wanted to post and let you guys know where my husband and I are at. I know that we are luckier than most since my husband is in seattle and I live in Vancouver and we do get to see each other every weekend...but it's hard when we're the only ones in our social circle going through this. However, it has been helpful and encouraging to see how helpful everyone is each other in this slow excruiciating beurocratic process!

Aww! You're so lucky you get to see your hubby at least on the weekends, although a normal married life is so much better! NVC doesn't understand the urgency of everyone's situations ? I have a question though, maybe I'm unaware of all these package names like 'aos' and 'IV' because my attorney just asks me for what he needs and doesn't specify what for, but I don't understand? There's two packages that need to be sent in? We've only sent one, the one with all of our civil docs and we've filed ds261&260 already paid aos & iv fees, I mean we have to pay in order for our NVC to send usa checklist right? Ugh, so stressful. Scan date 07/22/2014, still waiting!!
