So I make $37k per year, do I for sure qualify for the I-864EZ? Including my wife whom I'm sponsoring and my 2 kids from previous marriage, it's 4 of us.

So I was able to pay the AOS fee yesterday. And as we get closer...we found out a potentially BIG problem re: Police Certificates. My Swedish hubby worked for a large Swedish Corp for 15 years, in that time they sent him around the world on projects. We didn't even realize that we may need PC from any country but Sweden- where he has maintained the same address- and in Sweden they issue ONE police certificate from the main Swedish headquarters. However, we realize now we may get a checklist if we don't have PC from the UK (London) Singapore, and... wait for it...Tanzania Dar-es- Salaam (arghhhhhh). This means a trip to Tanzania? Impossible really.

My question: what is the forums experience with the PC? Are they real picky about this? Could we bring PC to interview? Would a letter from his employer help vouching that he never was arrested while employed by them?

This feels insurmountable now. We were feeling happy yesterday as the process was finally "moving" after being stuck at USCIS for 8 months...and we haven't seen each other in 4 months. I know- preaching to the choir here...but this sucks. I did look into the whole process before...but the thing about the PC never jumped out at me...I thought just home country was needed. HELP!

NVC can be so picky you wouldn't believe! Please take no chances and read and reread Saylin's wiki. Regarding the PCC, NVC more or less follows what is listed in the Visa Reciprocity page for your Consulate and for the countries you need to obtain PCCs from (http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html) which can be different from one country to the next.

I sent AOS and IV packages on the 23rd. They were received on the 24th and today, the 26th I got the email stating that they had received them and that it will take 60 days or so to review them.

Hey RobbieG! So I noticed with your timeline that you sent your IV package before doing the DS-261 or paying the IV bill? I thought that we all had to send all that stuff in with the barcoded sheet given at the end of the DS-261 application or at least with the barcoded sheet from when we pay for the IV bill? Am I wrong? I'm So confused it's not even funny :(

Thank you MoBar65 for the reply. I appreciate it. So my husband called NVC to discuss this issue today...and they said that we can send in all the documents WITHOUT the other Police Reports (we have from Sweden, but not from UK/Singapor/Tanzania) and we can submit them once we receive them. He asked her 3x if this is correct, she said it doesn't matter "what order the documents are received- we will review them and update your file when we receive them"....

Um...from what I read in this forum doesn't that mean that every time you send in a new document, or if a checklist is generated this RESTARTS the 60 day wait period?

If this was you, and we have ALL other documents...would you send in the AOS & IV and then supplement with the 3 other police reports as we receive them....OR ....wait until ALL documents are gathered and then submit?

I don't want to make a false move here...thank you in advance!

The way it works now, it takes them 60 days to review anything they receive and they would issue a checklist if anything required is missing from the original package. It seems they are currently tweaking the process but it's anyone's guess if this will matter here or not.

How long did he live in the countries you mentioned? I believe you're only required to submit a PCC for a foreign country (i.e. not your home country) if you lived there for 12 months or more at a time.

Thank you stackeria...He lived in each country more than one year. So it will be required. We are most concerned about Tanzania...a developing country where this is certainly not on their list of priorities to process. The NVC operator acknowledged that they realize it is not possible to even GET a Police Cert from some places, due to long processing times or lack of organization in that country.

I guess I am leaning towards getting the process "started" and supplementing with police certs when they come available.

NVC... Keeping families together in two different countries.

Wondering if that's their mission statement?

I know...totally absurd. ahhhhhhhhh

Hi VJ family. I have a question. Are we suppose to submit both petitioner aos+ tax docs and applicants supporting documents in the same package? Are they no longer 2 seperate paths anymore?

Yes, now you send everything together in one package after paying the IV bill.

Can't help with the file size... still trying to figure out how to make mine smaller. But if it helps... I am only sending pdf docs, and can only imagine I won't be able to send just one email with all the attachments.

Don't you have a copy of your MPRR from your release? That (and a scan of my certificate of service for good measure) is all I am including....

Hi, no MPRR. I was released in 1982 (I know...I'm a dinosaur, lol). Was given a UER and that's it. That file was lost in one of many moves :(, but I do have my Certificate of Service. And...thanks for the tip on Acrobat!

This is my two cents worth…..I had to get 4 separate PCCs…. you should start NOW!!! LOL!! i know you are worried about Tanzania…but just go ahead and get your husband to apply for all of them. They are valid for 1 year. So you will be fine. OK….I know it sucks….but sometimes developing countries will surprise you….sometimes they do it faster than most developed countries too…..trust me i am speaking from experience. It seems difficult, but oct you send the paperwork you just have to wait.

I had started apply for PCCs in December and i got all of them by May, sent them all in (on time)….… I still managed to get a checklist on a whole different issue.. Lesson--- do what you can as much as you can. And be prepared….thats all you can hope for….

I am sure it will all work out…..

I guess I would do as you suggested... send them as they become available. Just make sure you add the appropriate cover sheet every time.

Furthermore, do check the reciprocity pages as I suggested. NVC might consider PCCs unobtainable from some of the countries the beneficiary lived in if no longer living there. This means you may not be required to submit them anyway. For example, if you're living in Kuwait, NVC will require you to submit a PCC. However, if you're no longer living there, then NVC would not require you to submit the respective PCC, regardless of how long you lived there. Again, this is country specific

NVC reps wouldn't know such specific details, though a supervisor should.
