OMG WILL I GET A CHECKLIST FOR NOT WRITING THE A NUMBER????

and isn't A# for people who have entered the USA because it says Alien registration number (if any).. why would there be a "if any" choice if they have already given all of us an ARN?? m confused :bonk:

here's what i found for I864 instructions-- let me know if I am wrong or I should be worried or not :

  • In Part 2, the immigrant would have an "A number" or Alien Number only if he or she had previously applied for a green card or other immigration benefit or been in deportation or removal proceedings. And the immigrant would have a Social Security Number only if he or she had worked legally in the United States.

I am glad NVC is progressing :) I paid my IV fees yesterday and sent both of my packages today :) Actually I wanted to send everything before I even paid my IV fees. I thought I'd put AOS document sheet in front of both packages (that's what the NVC rep told me to do) but while I was waiting for my husband to collect all his documents, it took him 2 weeks to do that (one week for collecting docs, and one week for sending them here from India)..While I waited for the docs, I got an email on sept 20th that My IV fees has been invoiced but it I couldn't pay it til like yesterday.. I received my husband's documents yesterday and today I sent the packages together attaching IV document sheet :D hopefully they will receive it by tomorrow and sept 25th (my hubby's birthday) will be my scan date :D:D:D

That's excellent especially on your husband's birthday that's got to add some extra good luck on there. I hope all continues to run smoothly.

All the best :)

I'm on hold to NVC right now and I have a random observation. Is it just this place (and USPS), or does everywhere in America have hold messages that reassure you falsely? lol! Like, they say "we assure you that we will be with you momentarily" or "we will be with you in just a moment" or something like that. In Australia it's much more realistic. "We apologise for the delay. Please continue to hold and we will be with you as soon as possible." Don't give me that momentarily garbage! :D

Anyway I talked to a lovely man named Ryan and he said our DS-261 was approved on the 22nd of September (it was filed on 19 August) so we should get IV soon.

There were a couple of moments of confusion, and after the call my hubby had to tell me that in the USA they don't say "double-number" to indicate 001 (as in, double-oh one), they say "zero zero one" or "oh oh one". And that they always say the month first, rather than "nineteenth of August". Sorry Ryan...

I am the beneficiary. My husband is the petitioning USC.

I have left the A number blank for my beneficiary because she had NOT "applied for a green card or other immigration benefit or been in deportation or removal proceedings". AOS was approved.

The issue in question was that If the beneficiary is issued A number or not, during the USCIS I-130 process or not and if the beneficiary 's A NUBMER IS ASKED TO WRITE in I-864 for PART 2 OTHER INFORMATION ITEM#5, ,SHOULD WE IGNORE IT? Some has good luck if NVC did not pay attention on it.

My beneficiary never entered USA , never applied for green card before and never been in deportation or removal proceedure, and I wrote the A number in I-864; I did have any check list notice and if is approved !!!!

This a common practice for USCIS to issue A NUMBER at THE TIME OF I-130 when approval is granted. PLEASE CHECK YOUR I-797, Notice of Action, u will see THE A NUMBER THERE. Good luck for all of us !!!!"
