So silly isn't it!

Well we have discovered a couple of issues on the form. PIL did in fact put their adjusted gross despite not filing 1040EZ. They said we could just reprint that page and add it to the package but I don't want to do that, and we can't really because our paper is different to US standard size paper! Lol. That's okay, I think at the moment it is just easier/safer to just get them to do it again, and send it as fast as they can with Fedex and not awful awful awful USPS. I have to remember that we have been incredibly lucky so far, and things have happened very quickly for us so we have some time up our sleeves. I am calm and zen. ~~yoga pose~~

Nothing says you can strike through it and hand add the correct amount, they wont know it was you or them and it says don't use white out and to just strike the mistake and on the side put the corrected one. Anyone say I'm nuts? Come on you wana ;) hahahaaa.

It also says to use all capital letters, but not a lot of people do that either ;)

We signed in blue ink for everything and had no issues. Personally, to me, a signature in blue ink looks more real than in black as black may appear to be a photocopy (and I've seen checklists for suspicions on that).

Yes Saylin you are right . ( as always)

About three or four months ago someone in here (NVC thread) got a checklist because NVC thought it was a photocopy. I made a note  about that and when my time came to send the

AOS I signed it with Blue pen so they see it is not a photocopy. The whole form was in capital letters and black ink except my signature.

My AOS got Approved

Hello Everyone,

My first post! I've been on here for a few months sporadically in this process getting loads of good advice :) so..thank you! We are just in the NVC process ourselves. I submitted the DS-261 on July 13th 2014....aaaannd still no IV bill invoiced :(

I think i've made a few mistakes after reading a lot of forums and reading about people getting checklists, so i wanted to see what you guys think about it all.

Mistake #1: On the Form I-864EZ, we left a few spots blank. Like Part 3, #9 - place of residence (if diff't from mailing). Also left Name of second employer blank since there's only one employer.

Mistake #2: Signed the form I-864EZ in blue ink! Thought this would be best because we filed using electronic processing. But re-read the instructions and realised they do specifically say black ink.

Mistake #3: On the ceac website, on august 23rd, clicked on the DS-261 link! Argh. Went from complete to incomplete. So i re-completed it, but I didn't get an email from NVC, so i'm hopeful that they are still just considering the july 13th date for submitting the ds-261. I read on the August NVC thread, that the resetting of the date was a glitch and it seems to be fixed - i'm hopeful of this since I don't want to be set back 60 days from august 23rd! I am planning to call NVC to double check next week.

So with the above mistakes, I am resigning myself for a checklist for our AOS package. Since we haven't even submitted the IV package yet, i'm guessing the timeline will be similar for approval of both packages even with a potential checklist. Really really hopeful for a december interview date, but am prepared for a January one...it would really suck if it's later than that!

Anyways, just wanted to post and let you guys know where my husband and I are at. I know that we are luckier than most since my husband is in seattle and I live in Vancouver and we do get to see each other every weekend...but it's hard when we're the only ones in our social circle going through this. However, it has been helpful and encouraging to see how helpful everyone is each other in this slow excruiciating beurocratic process!

Mistake # 1 . Alot of VJ members got a checklist on that.

Mistake # 2. I also signed with blue ink and got approved, So you should not have any problem

Mistake # 3. I also did the exact same thing on daughters case . i called after 4 days to see what happened and the operator tolled me the date that i originally submitted the ds-261. I guess they fixed that glitch .

You sent your AOS about two weeks ago and your IV is not available yet. I would resend the AOS package with the mistake # 1 corrected.

Groooannnn... parents-in-law didn't sign in black ink but used blue. Send anyway? We have waited 2 weeks for this paperwork and another wait is just a horrifying prospect

I also signed with blue ink and got approved recently BUT all the rest was in black ink

yes I did. they were firm on the phone. they told me it is a legal contract and has to be signed in black ink. they told me that was the ONLY thing wrong with my I864. And then they told me when I send it, i have to wait 60 days before I can call back and ask. They will get a hold of me! She even had her supervisor confirm it ..that it was the reason I had a checklist as my checklist was blank. 2 days after my call,, I received the checklist saying I had to sign in black ink.. and that was the ONLY thing on it! <_<

That is weird .. you sure it was only that mistake ?

Hello Everyone

Need some urgent help !! Thanks

I had sent my AOS docs mid August

1) .I just realised that I have put the incomes wrong in the I-864 EZ . My tax reciepts say I filled up form 1040 but I wrote Adjusted Gross Income instead of Total Income.

2) Also I signed on the form with Blue Ink.

Should I send the whole package again to NVC again with all docs or Should I wait and hope I am not checklisted.....how much probable I am to be checklsted for the point 1income goof up

thanks

1) Better send a new AOS Packet with the correct number (total income) you will definitely get a checklist

2) I signed in blue and got no checklist.

OMG, we submited ds-261 on july 9th. Hopefully they work with us this week. My husband will try to call tomorrow

Good luck you are close

send it as fast as they can with Fedex and not awful awful awful USPS.

All my packets were sent by USPS with GUARANTEE delivery the next day.

I thought it was ridiculous too. I had to ask her a few times to make sure I heard her correctly. I am not one who calls every day or every week. I give it time. Just wondering now if it will take 60 days to say "yup, that right ther is black ink!" almost at my 30 of the 60 days! :clock:

 I think you may be the first person I've seen that has gotten a checklist solely cause you signed in blue ink...

That's just ridiculous... :bonk:

I signed in black ink and NVC accepted my AOS (no checklist). :star:

Well, the instructions state that you must sign in black ink (so I signed in black ink).

Has anyone received a checklist for signing in black ink and NVC asking them to sign it in blue ink (or in a different color such as pink)? :huh2:

If not, I suggest that you sign it in black ink.

I think that's smart. Feeling confident about what you send in will go a long way towards making the upcoming 60 day wait less painful. If you're not sure, take the 1 week hit upfront and fix it. It's a lot better than sweating it out over things like ink color or mismatched printer paper for the next 60 days...

And use Fedex or DHL this time! :)

Good luck!

I agree with all of this. USPS international to France was a nightmare, as the original AOS packet from my joint sponsor got lost in Germany for weeks. After that we switched to Fedex and had zero problems. It costs a bit more, but the peace of mind is worth it.

We also had the dilemma with paper sizes, a4 vs US letter. It makes you wonder why we can't just use the same size paper all over the world. The US embassies actually import US letter paper for all of their paperwork. What a waste!

Seriously. Life would be so much easier if the rest of the world woke up and started using US paper formats. :)

In general, I don't think it matters if you use A4 or US Letter. I'm sure you can find US Letter paper in Australia if you look hard enough. Personally, I wouldn't feel right replacing a single page of a multi page legal document without reprinting all pages and having the person sign at the bottom again.

About the ink color, I looked at the checklist text quoted earlier and it wasn't clear to me if perhaps the form had been filled in with blue ink or just signed in blue ink. Maybe that has already been covered but if not, can that person confirm that the form itself was all filled in or typed in black ink and that only the signature was in blue ink?

I'm the USC petitioner. My wife is British (now a USC!!!), generally awesome, and amazingly patient.

July 14th is already 35 business days ago. It would be great to see some July 14-18th scan dates get reviewed today. Anyone here waiting on those dates?

Hello

Regarding the Question of Household size if I am sponsoring for my spouse :

a) Yourself and the person you are sponsoring on this form : 2

b) Your spouse : Should I leave this empty OR 0 OR N/A (As I have counted her above)

Should I leave the column for Your spouse empty or put 0 or N/A here.

Please advice

Thanks

Thanks for the response . So you mean I should resend the whole packet again including tax returns and employment letter

If you have sent the supporting documents beforehand, then you don't need to. Just correcting the form will do.
