Fun story! NOT! On August 1st I received a checklist via email. I followed the instructions and posted my response the same day. Yesterday (more than a month later!) I got the hard-copy in the mail with the same date of the emailed one. To my surprise they didn't match! It was exactly the same checklist but the email requested renewed forms from me, the Petitioner, but the hard copy requested renewed forms from the only joint sponsor. I called 12 times before I could even get on hold, but I finally got through to a supervisor. She was very friendly, apologized profusely BUT....guess what? Yep you got it, there's not a whole lot NVC can/will do. She admitted it was their mistake and told me to reply to the "real" checklist, being the hard-copy, and include an explanation letter. I explained that I had already replied to the emailed checklist and all my documents are scanned as of August 13th, and that I expect an answer within 60 days of that date. She told me there's no promises, even though it is NVC at fault, and that this mess up could still set us back. I spent the entire day in tears, writing letters, emailing to our joint sponsor in the US, and trying to organize the "real" checklist response. I really don't mind having to fill out more papers but I AM BEYOND WORDS for my disgust and true contempt of this entire process. We have been in this nightmare for over a year, and NVC's mistake could cost us a lot more time. I have already prepped the packet and my us joint sponsor will mail it out today-ish. I just needed somewhere to vent. I cannot understand why all of this has to be so hard. I will never understand why our government slaps an honest hand, encourages illegal immigrants, takes more time and money than they need, and almost forces one to go the illegitimate route. UGH!

I am so sorry to hear about this. I feeling so bad for you. I pray for you that you get out of this hell ASAP!!

So, Saylin, we just put what my husbands annual income is BEFORE tax? That previous post confused me.

What have people been slipping up on when it comes to the income part?

Yes. If he's salary, put that. If he's paid by the hour, calculate what his current annual income would be by: hourly wage x hours worked per week x weeks worked per year (typically 52).

The question most people have problems with are for the three previous years' tax information (even though it's written right in the question what amount to use ).

Hey guys! Especially Hamo and Antre since you guys are in the same boat as me currently. My husband and I called NVC, Abby answered our call and questions and she sounded pretty darn confident so I feel better, so here's hoping it'll help you guys too!

1. The fees will be there within 24-48 hours usually, Friday morning at the latest

2. The new fee will not affect us if we can't pay until Friday anyways! We were billed for 230 so we will pay 230.

3. This might only be important to me currently, but for EP applicants if you're worried about altering your documents by adding the case number digitally she said she doesn't think it's necessary since it's the subject line and file name, but it won't hurt your case. I was worried about it because it does say it wants original unaltered documents, so anyways, it doesn't actually matter.

as for the scanned documents. I have not e-mailed my IV package yet, but have everything ready to go. What I did is I scanned an original document, copied it to the Word page, and on the top of the page typed case # and first_last Name. And then saved it as a pdf file. I guess it can be also done in Acrobat, but its version on my computer does not do that.

Yeah, that's what we did. Phew! (not that we've sent it yet but would be a bloody pain if he had to do it, especially considering he first filled it out with me next to him. I'd be worried to let him do it on his own haha)

So for the past 3 years tax information? We just put the amount that was on his w2's? Is that right?

I think about all this stuff 24 hours a day! Driving me mad!

Question how do you know that they are working on 18th of july.... my iv packet was scanned on july 23... they also sent me a check list for my aos and they just scanned on august 22 are they really taking 60 days to approved the check list?

I know based on what is shared here in VJ, some are scanned on specific date and get done and then say so while some are scanned on the same date and claim they aint done yet.

and based on trust on word of mouth from my fellow VJ we know what day the NVC is at. (give or take a day or two)

my check list was over in 53 days

they are getting faster

expect a 40 something day i would day

It is so wonderful to see so many Case Completes today. Congratulations to you all.

Let's hope NVC keep forging ahead with some sense of urgency and that we can all be reunited with our loved ones as soon as possible.

Samreen - great to see you back. Glad you are feeling a bit better. You have my sincere sympathies and understanding. This process is SO stressful for everyone. The job certainly sounds like it can at least keep your mind busy.
