NVC Filers - September 2014

Here's an example of why it's a bit frustrating: I sent the e-mail about my husband's embassy change back to Bogotá on August 5. The last time we did this, they sent an e-mail after about three weeks saying that it had been read and they were going to review our request. We haven't gotten that e-mail yet this time around, and it's been more than a month. It would be great if I could quickly read through a much shorter thread and look for information about how long they're taking at this point to respond to e-mails, and then ask the question if it hasn't been addressed. I don't want to contribute to the epidemic of repeated questions. The way things are now, I'll probably just call for the 11 millionth time. Which is not that big of a deal, although I have a feeling they'll just feed me some line instead of an actual answer. I feel really bad for people who really need help whose problems/questions get buried under meaningless posts. And I do like reading the case updates that do get posted--they are often very helpful and at times even reassuring. But the way things are now, it's just impossible to keep up unless you have a desk job that lets you sit on the internet all day or are willing to devote an hour or more every night to reading just this thread.

Let me draw your attention (as well as others') to the relatively obscure VJ search engine. See Advanced Search just under your member name at the top of the page. I would try that before I sift through all the pages.

Anyone can make a thread So, if someone wants to spearhead a new thread for just venting about wait times or talking about how draining the process is, etc etc, then by all means, someone start one! (Call it something like The NVC Moral Support/Ranting Thread) Then this thread can get back to its original intention of questions and progress only (and probably reduce the number of pages by a lot, especially if people start reading what's available).

It's funny to me, cause when I was going through the process, the NVC threads would typically average around 40 pages by the end of the month. Even less sometimes. But as the wait times go up, (obviously) more people talk about it and complain. Which is fine, but I think it should be in a separate thread, as I've discussed before and brought up again above.

Maybe you should add a note on how to use the MultiQuote in your wiki.

Some people claim to have never gotten the N/A when their case is complete, which annoys me since I hate calling NVC!

I'm one of them. Changed to N/A three weeks after CC.

BTW when I talked to the supervisor yesterday, I got the answer to the mysterious one or two Joys question. People! There is only ONE Joy! She is completely two-faced. I really could have sworn NVC had a sweet Joy and an evil Joy

Maybe her colleagues spike her coffee whenever they have enough of her.

Updating on my AOS package and IV package progress all my fellow VJers:

Just got off the phone with NVC, she said my package has been scanned on Sept. 5th. I said I sent my AOS in August, she said yes AOS is scanned on August 11th and your IV package scanned on Sept. 5th. She said with the recent changes your AOS and IV package will be reviewed together within 60 days from Sept. 5th. She said the packages that are being in received in September will be reviewed together. Not sure how authentic is the information but seems like NVC is trying to reduce the backlog by reviewing both packages together.

However, if there is a checklist associated with one of the package then it sets you back another 60 days. I still have a long way to go. Good luck to those whose scan dates are coming up.

Progress report! I am back in Canada after a wonderful 10 days with my husband in the US, so I sat down, downloaded the IV application cover sheet, put all my documents together in a detailed email, and pressed SEND. Hope DS260 will open soon though! Is it right after the fee shows PAID, or will it take a bit?

Edit: I looked after I posted, it'll probably take a bit.

fyi my husband just called NVC and spoke to Lee (not sure the spelling) who was not a lady to him , but she could tell that our DS 261 sent on August 2nd was reviewed on Sept 8th and in 5 days or so our IV fee will be invoiced. Now waiting for it...

As per my conv with NVC today they said packages are still being reviewd in order and not together....

Behold! http://imgur.com/1KlC9bR There is. I was always a little confused why people kept asking whether to send it to DR or CMR. I was thinking "why not just print the page??" Yepyep. Anyways, I emailed it to myself and removed any potential privacy thingies, renamed it my case number and voilà!
