Hello my fellow vj members. I am on the process of adjusting my status and I have my biometrics in a week or so.

I am changing my name to my married name this time. I didn't do it at first cause I didn't know how.

My question to you is...should I have a court order name change? Or my original a married certificate from my country will bet enough?.

I sent a copy of it and now all the process has been with my desired married name but my photo ID passport, green card, drivers license....is with my maiden name cause I didn't change it at first. Do you know if this would be an issue?

Do I need a court order? Thank u

From what I read from other threads, you just have to present your marriage certificate so you can use your married name.

You do not adjust status from a CR-1, so I am assuming you meant you are filing to remove conditions on your 2 year green card. The marriage certificate acts as a legal name change, so that is what you need to fill out the I-751 with you married name and get the 10 year green card in your married name. Once you get the green card in your married name, use it to change your SSN and other IDs and accounts over to your married name.

~ Moved from AOS from Family Based Visas to Removing Conditions - topic is filing ROC, not AOS ~
