Yep, Lays salt 'n' vinegar crisps are the nuts, as is another Lays product - Stax. They're basically Pringles but better. Much, much better. Firmer, crunchier, and more flavourful. The salt 'n' vinegar ones are to die for. Seriously. Try them.

We used to get the salt and vinegar Stax when Mr. N-N first arrived before Lays SV crisps started being available. Then they were both gone...no longer available in Texas for several years. We stalked the Lays guy in the store and he confirmed it..none distributed in Texas. We actually brought home big bags on the plane when we went to Alaska, Arkansas, and Colorado.

So a few months back Mr.N-N spotted the Salt and Vinegar in Kroger. We bought every bag on the shelf (6) in case is was a temporary fluke. Next day we went to Walmart and bought 4 more. He loves those. I haven't looked to see if they have Stax in salt and vinegar again. I like the cheesy Stax.

Warbuton's? I still miss them. I bought some for a obscene amount of money from an online store but they weren't the same as they were frozen.

I think I'm going to try making my own, because although they won't be the same as the Warburton's classic, they can't be any worse than the imposters on the shelves in my local stores in WA.

This thread has served to make me anxious about foods I won't be able to get when I move. Random things like pudding rice - is that available in the US?? I just made an amazing rice pudding and the notion that I wouldn't get the right ingredients in the future was very upsetting!

Still haven't tracked down pickled onion monster munch. Maybe after my interview on Thursday I will celebrate (or console myself) with a bag.

Fear not the lack of Rice pudding. There are plenty available. No ambrosia but still plenty of really good ones.

Lays Salt and Vinegar chips are really good as others have said. But I have resorted to make my own sausage rolls.

You will miss the flavors you have grown up with ( I do) but I am a grumpy old man and grudingly admit there are a lot of new flavors to experience out here.

I also have my aged parents run contraband, they bring me a obscene amount of Cadburys chocolate when they visit. So I am good.

The EXACT same thing happened to me!!!! Once my local Wal-Mart had started stocking the salt 'n' vinegar Stax (other stores carried Stax in other flavours, but only Wal-Mart the salt 'n' vinegar) I routinely purchased a tube with each case of beer I bought. Imagine my abject horror when, whilst perusing the familiar shelf to obtain said fried potato delicacy, I noticed that they'd stopped selling them!!! The other flavours were still there, and the regular salt 'n' vinegar Lays too, but not the salt 'n' vinegar Stax - I was quite literally beside myself!!

So now I do EXACTLY what Mr N-N does whenever I'm in there - buy at least five tubes at a time in the event of another unannounced shortfall!!!!!!!!!!

So, this thread makes me feel the need to try Monster Munch. I told my husband to get me a bag when he goes by the British store today.

If he comes back with the roast beef flavour then get ready to file for a divorce.

I think they only have pickled onion or flaming hot in stock according to their website. He'll probably forget anyway or be later than their hours. It's an internet business, but you can pop in and purchase. More like a little warehouse inside than a proper market. Shame they don't carry chocolate in the summer. I could do with some Galaxy. It doesn't ship well in 90+ degree weather so he doesn't stock it except winter to Easter.
