I'm so mad after reading this post and your consistent attempts of trying to say "I won't help, but..." trying to get more information about the trouble you could get in to.

I think I've spent the past half hour writing some extremely angry responses, just to delete them because you are obviously not getting the message everyone else is telling you.

Pathetic. Everything you have written, suggested, or mentioned since your first sentence on this post is pathetic. I hope she is denied entry at the PoE when the Borders and Customs officers inquires about her nature of visit.

P.S. - Sorry, i'm the petitioner, the U.S. Citizen responding here. And I have every right to these feelings when you are condoning someone trying to defraud MY government who was gracious enough to allow her to visit and enjoy what we have to offer for the duration of her tourist visa.

I may not say I understand how you feel since I am not the citizen but I understand your point. Again, I am not trying to condone her. I was just being a friend who tries to advise her NOT to do it because of the trouble she will get in to.

My fault for choosing a bad title for this query.

I understand you are trying to talk her out of making a bad choice. It sounds like she has already made up her mind. You might want to let her know that in addition to the high cost of living if she remains here and works illegally she will never get a good-paying job and will always be living on the edge. One wrong move and she will be picked up and detained. If she is caught most likely she will be deported with a life-time ban due to lying about why she came here. The United States is not the land of milk and honey that a lot of people think it is. With no ability to work legally, drive legally, etc. she is setting herself up for a hard time.

But then again 12 million other people are getting away with it.

My fault for choosing a bad title and questions.

My intention is to convince her not to do it and definitely not to help her find a way to get away with it. Though I know my questions may have implied the other thing. I am really sorry for that.

Thanks Belinda!

I know. it's a bad attitude. It's just that as a friend, she expects me to help her since I am here. I just want to show her how bad the choice will be if she will choose that route.

The questions I asked is just to let her know that if I will help her it will ruin both of our lives and I don't want that to happen.

Thanks Carla!

It's a loop hole in Singapore that allows people to enter, look for job and stay. Dumb Singapore govt.

If the OP is smart, she should not even invite this friend to stay with her, in case this friend decides to overstay and OP can't easily throw her out due to eviction laws.

Done with K1, AOS and ROC

Actually when she mentioned that she will apply for a visa i told her i can't offer her our place but she said she will just get a hotel. She doesn't have my address.

You beat me to it! She could be opening up a huge can of worms by letting her stay with her!

She can look for work, you do not say what her skill set is. Finding an Employer willing and able to sponsor a Work Visa may be challenging.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

That is not a work visa friendly occupation. Never say never but that is pretty close to it.

That's what I've read to. I even told her how hard to get a job here with the proper documents. I know you remember my post about my withdrawn job. I told her that if it is not easy for me with legal documents, it's not gonna be easier for her. But i guess she really made up her mind.
