But it's not just repeating it is it, it's ignoring the original context to justify some spurious birther nonsense.

It's bigoted because emphasising the apparent 'strangeness' of Obama's background is about de-legitimising him as an American. Because some people believe that noone could come from from such an exotic stew and still be “American.”

As I said, I think you like to say bigoted things to get a reaction out of people - especially when you can find a get-out that allows you wash your hands of the controversy.
