Hey, sorry if i'm not understanding, but you got your NoA 2 from the USCIS? As in the petition was approved?

I wouldn't plan on doing anything as drastic as moving out or leaving your job anytime soon. The NVC process can take a least a few months assuming everything goes smoothly and you have minimal or no checklists. You should view some of the timelines on here from other Brazilian VJ members to get a feel of how fast the process is from the NVC until the interview.

If you're applying for a K-1 or I-130, you've got a while to go until you're finished processing at the NVC before they even give you the opportunity to get an interview. I'd say stay put for a few months and let life continue as normal while you do the NVC phase. Once you get a Case Complete and your interview date is set, you can probably start making arrangements. Remember, you will not get a visa to travel until you are approved at your interview, so do not do anything that could put you in jeopardy if anything goes wrong. Unless you have a backup plan for somewhere to live or another job lined up, just hang in there.

If my information isn't accurate, someone will correct me, but based off of our experience and research on these forums and elsewhere, so far at the NVC since our NoA 2, things are just getting started :)

Good luck!

Thanks very much for the reply AnnaMaria!

I just wanted to have an idea how long it takes from now till the interview... so i can make a scratch of my plans till there. Yes, i will wait till the interview to take any action, however i had some plans of travelling between the dates i will probably get the interview and i wanted to know the times for the embassy in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil.

I have done a little bit more research and i found out the time range between 2 months!

:star: Thanks for your time! :luv:

Timeline

After you get your NOA2, there are basically three steps: USCIS to NVC, NVC to consulate receiving, and consulate receiving to interview. The first step is taking an average of 16 days, and the second step an average of 6 days. See http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1historical

You can see the third step here. Look at the Brazil data, keeping in mind this is just an average of all users over the last three months: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/stats.php?history=90

So add 16, 6, 30, and a week or two to receive the visa through Sedex after your interview, and you're looking at about two months. Again, this is just an estimate based on other users' timelines. Your case may be different, and also circumstances at USCIS/NVC/Rio might change between now and then.

I hope it goes by fast. Good luck!

K-1 cases haven't been taking that long at NVC, they are actually going superfast! We don't actually have to do anything like send them documents, our petition just passes through.
