Hello everyone. My wife and I have been feeling VERY overwhelmed by the visa process--and we are just getting started! I present here a list of what we have for our i-130 packet ( am copying here the coversheet I made, with only the names redacted for privacy). My wife is going to make two copies of everything possible today so we will be ready to mail next week. For those in the know, did we leave anything out? For those who are reading my post to get some initial information (as I did with so many others), I hope something we listed helps you! :)

All of your official forms look great as far as including them, hopefully there are no errors filling them out :). I suggest putting the G-1145 as close to the front as possible to reduce risk of it being overlooked or misplaced. I believe that is suggested on the Wiki process for the I-130 or on one the forums post somewhere.

You have several more pieces of bona fide evidence marriage than we submitted, and we made it through USCIS in just under four weeks with no RFE's, so i'd say you're more than good to go there, but I suppose it depends on your spouse's country how much suffices a legitimate relationship.

Dot your i's and cross your t's, send it off, and get ready for the ride :)

Good luck!

P.S. - However you send it, make sure you are able to track the package!!! It may take a couple of days from the time they receive it until you get notice they accepted it!

It looks pretty good, do you have share health insure or bank accounts? If you do, get a certificate form the bank and health insure company and summit it with the application.

Are you doing direct Consulate filling in the Colombia consulate/embassy?

It looks pretty good, do you have share health insure or bank accounts? If you do, get a certificate form the bank and health insure company and summit it with the application.

Are you doing direct Consulate filling in the Colombia consulate/embassy?

We have separate bank accounts here in Colombia. It is a good idea you mention about the health insurance and we didn't think of that. I bet my wife would know how to get it and I will mention it to her to see if we could get it quickly enough to make a difference. Perhaps we could present it at the interview later and not in the first filing since we have other pieces of evidence now.

I saw on the official websites that the Colombia is no longer a country that has direct consular filing (that would have made things much easier). So we have to go the longer route, unfortunately.

On the uneeded birth certificate of my wife, it is mentioned in the list of translated documents by our official translator in support of the marriage certificate, so we thought it would look strange if we left it out. Better to have more than less, we thought (same for my documents).

Thanks for the comments so far everyone! I think we should be able to send it out on Monday or Tuesday from Bogotá.

Yeah it's pity, it is so much easier if you are able to do DCF. We were lucky enough that it is allow in the Dominican Republic.

About the health insurance you can probably get it a the web site, When i summit mine, I actually got it out of the website from our health insurance company I just print it and have it translate. If not possible to get it from the website, try going to one of their offices, its something really easy to get, yet very worth it.

You do need the birth certificate of the beneficiary, an original one. At least that was what they asked me for. also if it is possible for you, send an original wedding certificate. When we summit ours documents, they took all the originals inted of the photocopy.

Also for the passport you only need to send the page where your information and picture is at the passport. You don't need to send all the pages. Its that or the birth certificate. With this they try to establish that you are an american.

I think you got a strong case, and since you are living in colombia and together, it's even better. Good luck.
