HI all, I'm a little confused over what happens once my embassy receives our petition for K1 and how they contact us to tell us what to do next. I phoned the NVC today who stated that they shipped our petition already to Dublin on the 22nd August. I would imagine that it is there by now but i wasn't able to talk to anyone as when i tried to ring the embassy it just gave me lots of pre-recorded info and I wasn't able to talk to anyone. I should also note that i asked the nvc for a case number but they said just go off the original number given by Texas.

Can anyone explain what happens at this point? Will they mail me instructions?

That's odd that they didn't give you a case number. I just got my case number last night, so yes, it's different than the Texas number. That's a receipt number, not a case number. I think you'll have to call them back and speak to someone else.

On the phone, she read my contact info, then my fiancé's. It depends on the embassy, but in our case they have my fiancé's email and that's how he will be contacted by the embassy. It could take awhile to get it into their system, but if you had the case number, you could track it.

After the Dublin embassy receives your petition, they will mail you packet 3 with further instructions. It usually only takes a handful of days for them to get the petition from NVC via DHL. We got packet 3 in the mail about a week after the embassy received our petition. :)

The NVC should have given you a case number that is different from the Texas one. Sounds like a mistake on their end?
