we have a sex offender registry that's overloaded with non-predators. in my opinion we need to keep the criminal charges to actual predatory behavior and not gross behavior between two consenting adults.

this makes sense too. but i don't think that all incestuous relationships are predatory in nature.

Not every one no, but I think the ones that aren't are rare - the couple I read about who already had a child together before they found out that they were brother and sister. They had very few options at that point and chose to continue the relationship.

A brother and sister were arrested this morning in Effingham County and accused of having sex with each other in a tractor trailer parked at a church.

Christopher Buckner, 20, of Guyton, and her brother, Timothy Savoy, 25, of Jackson, Ga., were arrested and charged with incest, aggravated sodomy and prowling, according to Sheriff’s Office spokesman David Ehsanipoor.

The spokesman said deputies answered a call at about 4:30 a.m. about a prowler in the area of Hester Road and Ga. 30.

As deputies were checking the area, they saw a man and woman walking down the road. The male said he was walking the female back to her house.

Deputies determined that the pair were brother and sister and that they had just had sex in a Kenworth tractor trailer, which was parked at Countryside Baptist Church, Ehsanipoor said.

He said they admitted having sex three times after watching the movie, “The Notebook.”

They were being held in the Effingham County jail.

When was incest outlawed up there in Ga anyway? Is this a new statute? Though a little bit icky is this the right application for what could possibly be better-utilized jail space?

The danger of legalising incest is that it means that the victims of sexual abuse could have little recourse under the law because the issue becomes about proving consent (or lack of) and not whether the relationship was wrong to start with. In much the same way that its difficult to prove rape, do we want to open up victims of sex abuse in the family to that sort of nonsense?

There's a couple of stories I've read - one about the daughter of one of the founders of the Mama's and the Papa's who had a sexual relationship with her father for ten years. She described it as consensual at the time but now regards it as abuse.

She describes herself as an incest survivor and that consensual incest is as much of a problem as non consensual.

She thinks her dad being into a drug problem changed the normal patterns of relating to people.

True, but I thought the question was being asked in real time, no? The main reason of the law to my knowledge is to prevent birth defects. Whether we have birth control and abortion doesn't really matter much, there would still be babies being born to siblings and some of them will have birth defects.

If you are ok with siblings sleeping together, what would you say to a Father and Daughter, or Mother and Son?

Since we're all here because of incest, it seems a tad hypocritical to cast stones at this young couple who obviously love each other so much.

she was nineteen when she first came out of a blackout and realized what she was doing. but she was 11 when her dad started injecting her with coke. so yeah i'd say their relationship was abusive from that point on.
