In my case i work in San Diego(local USCIS office San Diego) and Live in Irvine(local USCIS office in Santa Ana)

If possible i'd definitely wwant to avoid Santa Ana 1) Because of it slow processing time and 2) as its quite far from my work place.

Might be a dumb question to ask here but do we get to choose our local office for interview or is it the USCIS who decides.

-----Adjustment of Status for both Parents-----------------------------------------------

USCIS decides based on where you live.

One important thing:

He kept your green card?

That was a mistake... you need your green card to travel and as proof of your residency. You will also need to submit your green card at the oath ceremony.

You should contact the office and ask for your green card back.
