Another update today. Says issued. Anyone know how long till we get passport. My fanice booked flight for next Thursday, will be have passport by then.

It depends on how your embassy handles that. My husband had to pick his up. ourembassy doesn't mail anything. Check on their process.

I'm sure they will send it to a drop off place. The same place where he dropped it off an they delivered it to the embassy. Close to where he lives.

hi I am new to this particular thread but have participated in some others along the way . Dwheels76 send me over here to ask my question . my husband has an approved 601A and just had his interview in Mexico today and was approved . however when I get on this CEACwebsite it shows refused . I have read that on a regular 601 it comes up refused until the 601 is filed and approved however since this was a 601A that was filed and approved before the interview would you expect It's just still show refused until it it's just still show refused until it's issued s issued?

It doesn't happen instantly...someone has to actually input the information. It will go from refused to READY to AP to ISSUED. How fast depends on the embassy and how busy they are .. AP might take 24-48 hours, the date will change every time they update a field.

That part is okay with me just as long as they didn't change their mind after he left and change it to refuse that we didn't now I have no problem waiting just a little bit longer we've already been doing it for just over five years

I have a question that might be along the same lines here. My husband has approved I601-A. We are waiting for interview to be scheduled. Just wondering what is the process after the interview? Should they approve him, how soon will he be able to return to the U.S.? What do we do or have to wait for, watch for etc...?? Thanks for any info!

No clue about the 601a. That is a different process. Follow some of the waiver groups on Facebook. They are all going through the waiver process and can probably tell you exactly what to expect.

601a means that you get the waiver done in the U.S. Is for citizens only. when you go to the interview at the consulate office you should have the medical exam and they should approve the visa that day.

ITs not for Citizens. Citizens don't need waivers. The 601a is for the beneficiary and is processed in the US since they are already here. Then after approval they have to travel back to their own country for the interview and visa. . The regular 601 is for the beneficiary who is not in the US. I believe the 601a gets filed BEFORE NVC and interview. The 601 gets filed after the NVC and interview.

I meant it's for the spouse of a citizen. when they are in the U.S. And it is filed before the interview. They will go to the interview with the waiver approved to the embassy of their home country. A regular 601 is for persons of permanent residents and has to be filed after the interview and visa gets denied.

You're incorrect. I am the US. Citizen and my husband filed the regular 601 because he was not in the US.

Obama changed the law (or someone in the government) in 2013 in March so after that date they could file while they were in the U.S. I know that cause I'm a permanent resident and our lawyer wanted me to wait so we could have it done here in the U.S. I'm 1000 percent sure about this

I don't know anything about filing in the US. Your comment about the 601 being for residents is incorrect. Maybe they made revisions to the law for residents already in the country...but it's for beneficiaries of US citizens who reside outside the US.
