If it 12-16 months, how records of 5 months approval exist? It’s not just speed of curtain person, not just 1 month difference.

Expedites? Input error? Very lucky individuals? It's hard to even guess without knowing the details of a specific case.

Waiver I60, I received notice that from USCIS that they needed additional info (RFE) I turned it in and they said they were sending our case over to NVC, they are saying we are in Queue for an Interview---- NVC C=Sent RFE "If there are supporting documents missing:  Send the missing documents to the principal applicant so he or she can take them to the visa interview. Do not send the documents to NVC.
After NVC schedules the immigrant visa interview, we will send you an appointment letter with additional details. You do not need to contact NVC or send us additional financial information at this time" The question is, I have not receive an approval for my waiver? She he still go to the appointment? or should we wait to get an approval of the waiver? Please advise, thank you in Advance!

Anyone looking to file and wait you must have a NVC officer tell you what waivers are needed in USCIS will requier that letter included before giving you an answer on you I601 and 212. I decided to file them before being requested to and I recently have been told by USCIS that I must have a Ciudad Juarez officer tell me which waivers I need 1st. I learned this the hard way. When he was deported the paperwork he was given said he would need a 212 and I know he will need the I601 waiver. They just want to make it more complicated for use 😕

Correct.

A standalone I-212 may be filed beforehand, but an I-601 needs to be filed after otherwise being determined eligible for the visa. This only occurs at some point after the interview.

If you need both then much better to do a combo after the interview.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
