Last time I was replying here in Jun, I received an email from the US embassy in Bangkok requested for an update medical record after my interview was denied in Nov 2016. My I601 receipt date was March 10, 2017 which is now way beyond due date.

At that time when they requested for my update medical record, I thought that the waiver could have gone through. However, I was wrong. As I have provided what the embassy needed along Final judgment from court on my DUI case which happened in Bangkok back in 2004 That said case was already dismissed. I've just recently received another email from the embassy to pick up my original passport and inquire about my waiver with USCIS. I have also been informed that the 2nd interview is not necessary since they already did that in Nov 2016

Before that on August 10 this year which is the date marked on USCIS web processing time that i can inquire about case with receipt date March 10, 2017 i had inquired online on why the case was taking longer than the processing time and the answer i got 11 days later was  “U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) records show that your case is currently pending adjudication. However, we have had to perform additional reviews on your case, and this has caused a longer processing time.”  without providing anymore information nor timeline.

Main point that i really not understand was why they required second medical record when it only lasts 6 months from the issue date and get to the point that there's no sign of I601 waiver approval.

Now i guess it is same as the case that Jonando shared above. I really have no idea how much time i have to wait or how can i get more information on the case or how to expedite the case. It had already been 9.5 years since my case filed.

I finally had my I601 waiver approved last Thursday. What's the next step? Should i contact the embassy directly or waiting for them to contact me.

Correct my waiver I601A was approved while I was in the USA once I got my apt in juarez that’s when the consul told me my I601A is no longer valid because I’m already outside USA in this case in Mexico and told me I need to file I601 waiver that covers inadmisibility.

Thank you all for your help  for being aware of our questions through our journey it helps us a lot

Hi. Could you tell me the process of 601 waiver on interview. Because lawyers are saying different things and I don’t really trust them. How did they ask you about it, and if it’s better to have waiver with you on interview or not?

This reply goes to holaguide:

I would contact them if your waiver was approved last Thursday...don't delay. My husband received his approval, immediately after his 2nd interview - while we were still in Juarez...they gave him written instruction on what to do next...fingerprints, turn in passport and so on.

I am so excited for you! I hope you are able to receive permission to return as quickly as possible. God bless.

I’m sorry. I just don’t get that. I’m going tomorrow in my interview for Ir-1. Lawyers are saying to me if officer will ask for waiver it will take me about 4-6 weeks to process it, with no additional interview, and I should go back to States till this new year. They lying? Or it’s just different procedures?

You technically can’t apply for waiver if you weren’t refused. I’m going to immigration interview for ir1 visa. If they deny me based on waiver only then I can apply for 601 waiver. But I wasn’t denied yet. So and 3 different lawyers are saying it should take me 4-6 weeks if I will be denied visa and apply for waiver. And I don’t know what to believe.

Ok what I know based on my experience I was denied at my interview so the officer told me to submit a I601 waiver that covers my   inadmisibility he gave me a blue sheet so It took me 3 weeks to send the I601 packet to uscis then I got the receipt confirmation that it was received however it’s taking 12-16 months to process tomorrow it will be 12 months since I applied for the waiver and nothing yet I’m hoping to see something here in December I hope!!!

What means blue sheet? Why did you go outside of US for interview if you had 601a approved?

Why do you need a waiver?
