ok, let me tell you what happened to us.

We submitted the expedite request with our waiver package ( aug 26 2014), and I made the lawyer call again to request the expedite the first week in September. The lawyer told us the expedite was denied a week after that, but in fact when we called the USCIS ourselves, the USCIS told us it was NOT denied, and they sent a letter asking for us to send in the proof. It took my lawyer another week to fax everything ( and me begging them to freaking do their job) because they were not in a rush ( another story ) so that was the second week of September... We found out it was approved when we called on October 29th ( or around that date) and the expedite approval was OCTOBER 15th. It took 2 months for them to approve the waiver finally on Dec 17th. I got the senator's office involved because the lawyer was useless. And the fact that only my husband or the lawyer could call was quite annoying. The lawyer was prepaid so they weren't in any rush to do anything and my husband was in Costa Rica which made it difficult to 3-way call . The wait was always about 2 hours waiting for a tier 2 rep. And the call back feature doesn't work when you use the 3-way calling.

If I were you, I would involve the senator to follow up on your expedite request. In my opinion, the lawyers are a waste.

Thanks! Does anyone here know if my husband still need to re-do his medical? His I-601 just got approved yesterday and we are now waiting for the instruction letter. His last medical was June 2014 before the first interview on his I-130, we are wondering if that medical is good for 6mos or 1yr? I am getting different answer on this question. Any insight will be highly appreciated. Thank you again...

I don't know if all the countries are the same. My last medical was on June 2014 too. My waiver approved last months. The consulate asked me to redo the medical. That's all they need.

I contacted the embassy as soon as I got the approval message on my phone. (December 17th) The embassy contacted the USCIS to request the approval. We received the instruction letter from the embassy December 29th. Husband went to the embassy on Monday January 5th to drop off all his paperwork including the medical. Visa Issued January 12th and Husband picked it up at the Embassy on January 13th. POE January 18th because flights were too expensive if we bought them a day or two in advance . If we didn't get hung up with the Holiday the last 2 weeks in December, it would have happened alot quicker. Costa Rica is a very Catholic Country. Almost everything is closed the last 2 weeks of December. The embassy was open but there wasn't a consular available til the 5th. ( just our luck)

Costa Rica is super easy to deal with. Of course every embassy is different in how they handle things. I suggest calling the embassy. Make sure they have your email addresses and correct contact information.
