@Beatriz and Luis  Hi I also going Thur the same. I had my interview 9/07/2017. (México cuidad juarez).. I was refused/denied my visa also.  I filed for my i601 already and got my Congress person involved also. Spoke to a lawyer and said that helps.  Waiting for respond back from Congress person. Hopefully by Tuesday..

I was denied because I had 1 misdemeanor for recieving stolen goods. But I had my i601A approved before coming. Did you have your i601A approved? When I filed USCIS said I only needed my i601(A) waiver. Mexico said otherwise.(that’s what the my lawyer told me) From what my lawyer told me i601 waiver process is 4-6 months to get an answer.  I’m currently in Michoacán waiting for an answer. It’s been almost 6 months now, my mistake was not filing the i601 waiver back in September. I suggest you get it done ASAP.

Did you file file with a lawyer or on your own?

are you going to file with a lawyer?

i recommend speaking with a lawyer because there a lot that plays to get an i601 approved..

Hi there!

I havent filled yet. Still getting the money together to get the process started, how many months later did you file your I601 waiver after finding out you needed one?

Whats the extreme hardship that your relative is suffering if you dont mind me asking?

we are still figuring out this things... its gonna be a loooong wait.

Do you have a lawyer that you can recomend?

Thank you

@Beatriz and Luis I filed back in January of 2018. I had my refused letter back in September 23 2017..  I didn’t file for the i601 waiver because our lawyers said we don’t need it... which got me thinking and doubting our lawyer. But I was wrong my wife back in the U.S. California. Meet with 4 different lawyers who we paid to speak with.. and all looked at my case and said I don’t need the waiver- mexico error for requesting for the i601 waiver..it’s was a game of wait or pay for the waiver.......  hardships doesn’t  really have a definition when it come to this.  Both my son and Wife have asthma, I’m the head of the house so my income is what places a big roll on this. Also my wife suffers from depression and  anxiety attack and takes medication. I live in Michoacán at the Moment, but as you can see Michoacán has reach the mexico travel warning.  Which helps in your favor.  I recommend getting a lawyer for this process. I paid $8000 in full when I started my process.  I seen where lawyer charge $4000-$6000 just for the waiver alone. So I’m glad I got a lawyer.   Process to get a respond from USCIS is about 6 months. Some are luck and get answer in a month or 2...  I can email you a index photo of my hardship that our lawyer prepared for us, so you can get an idea..can’t upload on here. My email is jtorres2040@gmail.com

good luck, you  be back home, just a small bump on the road..  have faith..  question.. Did you file on your own?  Did you ever apply for the i601(A)?

I have not but I did see 2 cases that were received the same day as mine were sent a RFE... I actually received a notification that my case was updated via the USCIS app but when I checked it, it was not, it literally said went from case received to case received. I do not know if that was a glitch or an error by someone who updated it. Still waiting...

I have a question and maybe someone could help.  My husband failed his initial interview in July, they said that he misrepresented himself a year or so before we got married and was refused a visa and they also needed further proof of the marriage and other documentation.   I know that we will need to get a Lawyer and do the wavier.  The embassy asked that he turn in all other documentation that was requested.  We turned everything in and his updated status still was refused as of November.  Now my question is, is it refused because the waiver hasn't been completed? or did they not accept the new information that was turned in?  Im afraid that if we get the lawyer go through with the waiver process get approved, there may be a chance that he is still refused at the embassy?  Am I on the right track?

@SMAlexander what country? Did your husband get a 221g letter blue paper? I’m in the same boat. I had my interview(9/07/17) and was refused also, and was requested to file for the i601 waiver.  My lawyer says if my waiver is approved there’s no way the embassy can refuse me again, because the refusal letter states I need the i601 waive and that all. So good luck and always take  everything you can possibly can. I seen at my interview people get ask for police report, i601A approval, family photos and etc..  but do keep in mind medical exam is only good for 6 months, so that might be one thing we will have to do again and pay? And maybe a 2nd interview.
