My receipt date was November 28th 2016 and still no news. :(  I will let you guys know when I hear from them, I'm hoping soon since it has been 13 months!

Our receipt date was December 21, 2016...still waiting.   Looks like NSC is moving slower...earlier this year 601 was 345 days in the Historical Chart, then it went up to 360 days, now with recent update it states 378 days.  Yes please let us know when you hear from them...thank you and I will do the same.

Hello Adam and Dina,

All the I-601s are to be sent to attached address. Apparently all the I-601s are processed at Nebraska Service Center. Current wait time is approximately 14 months.

Hello

New to the group also waiting for I 601 Approval, received date November 2017 also in nebraska office. Has anyone moved with their spouse while waiting for 601 approval?

No, you cannot move to the USA while waiting for your I-601 form to be approved. If it is approved, it then goes back to your consulate and they still need to determine if you can receive your Visa.

Hi Sorry What I meant to say was i am the us citizen, I was wondering if anyone has moved and waited with their spouse while the 601 is approved, or has been living with their spouse in their home country during the whole process?

Hi,

I think you can do whatever you want while the process is going on but remember, the I-601 is mainly for extreme hardship of the USC who is residing here in the United States and seeking a waiver for his/her spouse who they want to come back here to alleviate the hardship they are facing here in the United States and not in another country.

If you are already together then you can remain living together until the outcome of the waiver, however if you are not, then you will have to wait until your waiver and Visa is approved to move.

Sorry for my ignorance but is Nebraska the only processing center for I 601? Can we ask the American Embassy in the country we reside if they can have our file transferred to their I 601 Processing Center?

Thank you again everyone for the information given.I

From what I have been reading online, it seems that Nebraska is the main processing center for it. I have never read that an Embassy has done that but I guess you can always try.

Yes Nebraska is the main servicing center for I-601 cases but i have also seen just one case last year which happened to my spouse cousin. She knew she was going to get a 10yrs ban after she left the U.S voluntarily in 2009 so she never bothered to file for a visa until last year (8yrs after).

She applied for a regular B1/B2 nonimmigrant visa and was approved but was later called back to the embassy the next day after they found out she has been in the U.S illegally in the past, but after she told her story of her situation then while living in the U.S and the embassy staff filed the waiver for her and she got the waiver approved under one month and visa in hand the next month. (Happened at U.S embassy Lagos, Nigeria)

Use the link below to read more about the centralized filing for form I-601........

Hope this helps!!!
