It is frustrating the not knowing, I was mailed a letter from ciudad Juarez to schedule the interview appointment and I have been checking non-stop and I just can't get an appointment. It been such a long journey and I'm to the point of full frustration!!! It's so hard to continue with this torture!!! I thought Juarez would mailed me my appointment and instead I need to schedule I call to also see if I'm lucky enough to get an opening and I am told the appointments open" spontaneously" REALLY???

OHernandez-G,

Exactly what LionessDeon stated above...contact the Embassy in Ciudad Juarez to tell them you have been approved, and that you want to know what to do next (they were very nice and helpful to my husband each time he called). If I remember correctly we received a letter advising us of the scheduled appointment for the Consulate interview...we did not get to choose a date or time...the Consulate tells you when your appointment is. I think it took like a month to get the interview letter in the mail.

If you have not completed your biometric (fingerprints) and medical exam those must happen BEFORE your interview with the Consulate. Our attorney helped us schedule those appointments (there was a letter giving us instructions on how to go to their websites or call to make those appointments with biometrics and the medical clinic).

We stayed in Ciudad Juarez for a week - arriving one day before his 1st medical exam, the next day was his fingerprints, and I believe on the fourth day we received the medical results (he got blue papers that time saying he could not return to USA, and needed to come back in September one year later for his 2nd medical).

When we went back for his 2nd medical he did not get blue papers. He was told to go to DHL to mail his sealed envelope (medical results) and Mexican passport. He had DHL deliver his new passport with VISA to a DHL location near his mother's home in Mexico City. At that point it seemed everything happened so quickly!

I wish you and your family all the best...good luck & let me know how everything goes :)

Joy

Oh for clarity,  when my husband mailed his medical result and passport from DHL...those were mailed to the US Embassy in Ciudad Juarez. The Consulate mailed his new passport and VISA to the DHL office in Mexico City (what I wrote sounded confusing).

Good luck everyone  God bless!

OHernandez-G,

I just seen your other post about calling the Embassy and being totally frustrated...DO NOT GIVE UP!!!!!   You have come way too far to give up now. KEEP PUSHING FORWARD! You will get your appointment IF you don't give up. I remember when my husband found out it would be a month or so before his interview...it sounded like forever...but it came quickly. There is much to do before you go (saving up money for airfare, hotel reservations, taxi, food...etc). Stay focused...don't let the process discourage you...you are soooo close to the end of the race. Push on!

Peace!

Joy

Many of you are in the waiver group on Facebook and have seen my update, but I know some of you are not. We finally received our approval for our waiver on Thursday the 9th! We had to get the waiver for a CIMT and chose to do the process without a lawyer. At 11 months, our case was approved without an RFE! I am overjoyed and relieved that my research into everything waiver related ended up with this outcome. I know how incredibly hard it is to get an approval on a CIMT waiver without the help of a lawyer, but I met that challenge and I'm pretty ecstatic at that. I know how incredibly expensive immigration lawyers are, and as of yet we have always chosen to do it without. I will be sticking around and continuing to help others when they need it, and hopefully I will be able to update quickly with the news of our reuniting very soon!

This journey isn't easy...we went over many hurdles along the way... We are together now, 4 years going strong... It's never impossible, it is a matter of having the strength and love to conquer all things along the way!

Congrats! I have to ask what was your CIMT? My husband visa got denied on Dec 2015 and he qualify for the I-601 waiver reason was because of CIMT! Our receipt date is Feb 25, 2016 n to this day no decision has been made! My lawyer had put an inquiry on Nov 17, and got a respond on Nov 30 and was told that our case is currently under review by an officer and should receive a decision thru mail within 60 days of the date of our inquiry. Well January 30 was our 60 days and to this day nothing has came thru mail nor any updtaes! So our lawyer told me that she will call them and see what is going well in the end another inquiry was put in on January 30 so far no respond to that inquiry? The bad part is that they wont give me any info since im not the applicant and ever since my husband left to his hometown there is barely any signal on the phone to 3way call them. Its a miracle that we at least talk for 5-10min then it cuts off?! At least i know he is ok. I dont know what else to do im just waiting patiently!

Our CIMTs were for unlawful use of a motor vehicle and petty theft, both from when he was a teenager. They were more than 15 years old at the time of the approval. We inquired initially in November of 2016 but were told our case was still in line to be reviewed. We waited the 60 days from the date of the letter and then called the National Customer Service Center hotline and asked for a tier 2 officer. We asked specific questions such as where our case was and explained our situation; dates of notices, movement on our case, etc. We were informed that our case had been touched by an officer just a few days prior and that they would put in a request for our case to be wrapped up within 15 days. It was 8 days after we talked to the tier 2 officer that our case was approved. We didn't even get a response to inquiry from the Tier 2 officer before it was approved.

Finally my husbands waiver was approved on 02/14/17 receive date April 01,2016, how long does it take to get instructions from the consulate, can I call to schedule an appointment if I dont have instructions?

Congrats on your approval! It's hard to say when you will get instructions, as each embassy is different. We got ours within a few days, although they messed up and sent us the instructions for those who don't need a second interview. We got an email the next day stating that basically disregard the last email as we need a second interview. We are now playing the waiting game on getting the email back with the interview information. As for you, I've seen many people post from Mexico that their dates are blacked out, so once you have the instructions you are going to need to check numerous times a day to see if you can find an appointment. Every country differs on how and when they schedule their interview. If I remember correctly, others from Mexico called to inform the embassy of their approval and asked for instructions. I don't want to freak you out, but I've seen many cases approved from there and the wait to the interview can be upwards of a couple of months. All I can say, being someone who is waiting, is that it is difficult not having a date to "count down" to, but this wait is not so bad as you know you've done your initial interview, you've got your waiver approval, and now it's just a matter of getting all the loose ends tied up. Good luck! I'll keep this updated as we finish up our progress.

For those of us that are past processing times and have submitted a service request, have you heard a response from USCIS? We were officially past processing times on Feb. 17th (our priority date is April 20th)  when the chart stated they were working on cases in July. We went ahead and submitted a request and have heard nothing. Also I just checked the chart and it seems it was updated earlier this week and they have actually backtracked now they are saying they are working on May 16th cases. Does anyone have any updates they would like to share?

My husbands i-601 waiver was received June 24 and I haven't heard anything. I also saw the update from Feb 17th where it stated that they where processing cases from July 28. I was so excited because this has taken forever. My husband is in mexico and he is becoming very anxious and I have to clam him down and tell him it will all work out but seeing the dates change to May 16th doesn't really help because I felt like we where reaching the end of the tunel and now we are still walking trying to reach the end. This has been very frustating. My husband has been in Mexico 2 years now and it has been really hard on all 4 of us. We have two boys and they need their father back.

It's a very frustrating situation but we must remain calm or else it gets a lot worse. Were you able to submit a service request on Feb. 17th or did they deny it because they changed the processing dates?
