Me and my fiancé are getting ready to send in out I-129 packet this weekend .. I just came across the DS-160 form... is this necessary? Any one have more info on what it is for?

This is not required for the I-129F petition. It's not necessary until after you receive NOA2 & are getting ready to actually pay for the Visa.
