Actually you don't have to wait that long to get SSN. Fiancée arrived on a Saturday, and we went the following Thursday to get her SSN...4 business days after arrival.

Do all SSA offices close early on Wednesdays? We were originally going to go on a Wed, but found out they closed at noon...the ONLY day of the week they closed early.

Maybe speeding up entry into the system was part of the new software (that caused the glitch) being the I-94 is electronic now. I will have to watch updates as others process at SSA. Would be nice not to have to wait like before.

I don't know if all SSA offices close early on Wednesday, my only experience is with the one here in Tucson.

Both ssa card centers in phoenix close early on wednesday too. After a month of waiting for nothing,we finally went there monday and my middle name was included in my first name so there's the hold up.Now need to wait up to a month for the verification.

On what document ? I seem to remember the same run-on first/middle name on one of my fiancé's documents ?

7 days and a wake up... :star:

We were there together. Most of the questions were directed towards me the Petitioner. So Fiance had no worries :D.

Mainly asked me about my pay, etc.

Asked Fiance how we met and her personal information.

You were both in immigration at POE together and the petitioner was questioned, is that SOP ? In short, can/should I be with my fiancé before she gets processed ?

Congrats to you both..

On the "save" system. That's what they call it I think. The lady said uscis/dhs had three first names instead of 2.She printed it out and showed me and had a note at the bottom showing the correct format and said it may take up to 4 weeks.I checked the ssn forum and one guy said my concern is normal and that is it a software issue. So the letter ssa gave me said i can legally obtain an employment while my ssn is pending.Dont worry i was just one of the lucky few who have this issue, haha.Yay have a safe trip!

All's well that ends well...

She is tripping not me, 25 hour flight. I'm tossing a EMS stretcher in the back of my truck just in case...

Yes at POE go with your fiancee through the immigration counter where she will turn in the DO NOT OPEN envelope. That is what I did, as have many others.

I was also questioned at my fiancée's POE (I was with her too). If you are traveling with your fiancé, then you should be with her every step of the way.

I forgot to wear my earplugs on the ride home, so I'm a bit disoriented at the moment  Isn't immigration and customs on the ticketed side of terminal ?

Should I show them concealed carry permit to get past security, or my stop and shop card ?

Oh, I thought you were flying back with your fiancee... never mind. You will have to wait until after she grabs her luggage and clears customs if POE is where you are meeting her.
