Was she shooting a fully automatic Uzi? I don't think the article specified that. The majority of Uzi's in private hands aren't fully automatic, they are semi automatic. They fire a 9mm round which is largely for handguns. Many police departments went from 9mm to .40 caliber for more knockdown power.

Cause it really matters right?

Spooks you're moving ever closer to being a full fledged gun aficionado with some of your arguments lately.

The exact same thing happened in Massachusetts 2 years ago. A doctor wanted his pre-teen son to shoot a class 3, fully auto, uzi. The range officer had his head up his butt and failed to exercise common sense. The result was the Doctors son getting his head blown off in front of his father. I fail to understand why this tragic lesson failed to reach Ariz...?

BTW: I taught both my daughters learned shoot proficiently and safely at the age of 10.... they have yet to become spree killers :content:

I remember that one. It was stated that the gun was on full auto. In this article it doesn't mention full auto at all.

Vacca was standing next to the girl at the Last Stop outdoor shooting range in White Hills when she pulled the trigger and the recoil sent the gun over her head, investigators said.

If the recoil sent the gun over head and the instructor was shot, would it not mean that the gun was on auto? Again, it really doesn't matter. Let's focus on foolish bs rather than the fact that a 9 year old was being taught to shoot an Uzi.

Of course it matters. You guys are sensationalizing because it was a big bad Uzi. You want educated gun users yet tell me I'm a nut because of the statements I have made in this thread, all which are about proper gun safety?

And if anyone of you every actually fired a semi-automatic Uzi, you'd be probably be let down.

Wow! The fact that the girl is 9 years old completely escapes you?

I remember that one. It was stated that the gun was on full auto. In this article it doesn't mention full auto at all.

The girl was at the shooting range with her parents, who filmed the lesson.

The footage shows the instructor coaching her as she fires a single shot at a target at the Last Stop shooting range in White Hills, Arizona.

The Uzi then appears to be switched to automatic as the girl pulls the trigger and loses her grip of the weapon.

The BBC article had the above details.

And isn't 9 a bit young to start educating someone on gun safety that involves actual gun handling?

No, it would not. Of course it matters. Your making a big deal out of it because it was *gasp* an Uzi, that's all. The girl was at a firing range being to shotgun by a careless instructor. What laws do you suggest passing that would prevent this?

I learned to shoot before that age.
