It is called a clutch! Get with the program!

True story: I once overheard my wife talking to a friend about clutches, their shapes and how small they were, etc etc... I was dumbfounded because nothing they were talking about made sense, in the context of transmissions; besides she always drove automatics, in the US. Needless to say I got a full education on 'clutches' from her...

Don't you think we could give up a few days of black history month or Hispanic history month to teach real world skills. ... Why cannot you think of the children...You complain about gun deaths and a logical course of action would be teaching a child not to fear a gun as advocated by you anti's today.. Teach them if they encounter a gun the safe and proper use of a firearm. ... Skills that would enable them to make a decision to save their live or the life of a friend.

Two questions:

1) What does black/hispanic history month have to do with this thread or my views on the topic at hand?

2) What makes you think that I don't think of the children? Because I don't think guns have a place in public schools?

I don't understand why you are so absolutist on everything - it makes it very easy to refute your arguments because they all come from an extreme position.

When you look at it, this story is the perfect case-study as to why kids shouldn't be allowed to have guns. After all, don't we already infringe on the freedom of our kids by limiting their ability to drive, consume alcohol and tobacco?

Seriously, who is the nincompoop who thought it a good idea to give a gun to a 9-yo?

Strangely noone seems to be willing to argue that schools to bring in cigarettes and booze into school canteens. I wonder why.

DOLAN SPRINGS, Ariz. — A 9-year-old girl killed an Arizona shooting instructor as he was showing her how to use an Uzi, authorities said Tuesday.

Not really. It's obvious what goes on with him - he's got this cardboard cutout of his political opponent in mind and then ascribes positions to them based on that, rather than what they actually think or what they actually say.

There is no connection between a 'history month' and whether or not guns are allowed in schools beyond the fact that LIB has deemed them to be stereotypical liberal positions.

It's pretty tedious.

Teaching a 9 year old proper gun safety and how to shoot is fine. It wouldn't be the first thing on my child's to do list, but I get that it is for some. Teaching a 9 year old to shoot an Uzi is ridiculous no matter how you slice it. When I was 9 I was taught proper gun safety and how to shoot by shooting bb guns. When did we make the jump to machine guns?

Was she shooting a fully automatic Uzi? I don't think the article specified that. The majority of Uzi's in private hands aren't fully automatic, they are semi automatic. They fire a 9mm round which is largely for handguns. Many police departments went from 9mm to .40 caliber for more knockdown power.

What is the purpose of teaching a child to shoot an Uzi and then not giving them one? That seems kind of cruel to me.

Utter nonsense.

As a parent and IMHO it doesn't matter. I would not have nor allow my kids to be anywhere near loaded guns when they were kids. Why aren't 9-yo taking driving lessons? Why do we keep car keys always off limits to kids until they are old enough to drive? Why not take the same sensible approach with guns?

Can someone show me where the gun was given to the girl? All I read was she was learning how to shoot.

She was being supervised by an instructor, not playing with the gun as if it was a toy.

The exact same thing happened in Massachusetts 2 years ago. A doctor wanted his pre-teen son to shoot a class 3, fully auto, uzi. The range officer had his head up his butt and failed to exercise common sense. The result was the Doctors son getting his head blown off in front of his father. I fail to understand why this tragic lesson failed to reach Ariz...?

BTW: I taught both my daughters learned shoot proficiently and safely at the age of 10.... they have yet to become spree killers :content:

Or telekinesis....

I presume if she shot the instructor she was holding the gun...

I don't believe a 9-yo really knows the difference, so much so the instructor is dead.

She was being supervised by an instructor, not playing with the gun as if it was a toy.
