Has anyone experienced their Filipina wife having their baby abroad in the Philippines? If so, what process must be done to bring the baby to the US? I have already filed for K-3 for my wife. She is due in April and I honestly don't believe the visa process will be finished by then. What should I expect? Do I need to be preparing anything right now?

when the baby is born, you can go to the american services at the consulate and declare your baby a US Citizen. you may have to take a DNA test to prove to them your the father. read up on it, then you wont need to get a visa for your baby just the US passport.

good luck :)

Ok....so, I will need to go to the consulate in Manila? Which means another trip to the Philippines? I already have plans to go there on March 28 until April 19 in the hopes that she will give birth. She is due April 11. So I guess I am looking at yet another trip there soon after??? Great.....

I just went thru this process in Honduras. My fiance has her K 1 visa but our son had to wait two weeks to receive his passport & US citizenship certificate. I brought my last five years tax returns with W2 notarized, Literal form birth certificate, medical records of your wife's pregnancy and photos of you together before, during and after her pregnancy will help. Also both should be present at obtaining US citizenship & passport helps big time, regardless of what the embassy says about one parent being present. They interviewed us and look to see if the baby looked like one of us. He looks like me and she was satisfied with that and all I had brought. She could have asked for a DNA test but I think both parents being there helps big time. Also if you are not travelling back with your wife and child like i did. you must have a notarized letter saying you gibe permission to your wife to travel with your own child to the USA? This is what the country of Honduras has told me, but the PI might be different. I am really not sure what applies to a married couple as we are not married because of the K 1 visa requirements. Good luck
