Equally disgusting is the way people are bringing racism into anything where there is even the most tenuous link, and trying to make the racism element into the main focal point of the discussion. In a way, it's the modern equivalent of the boy who cried wolf. Over-saturation will only numb people to the issue, so that when a case where racism is the main issue arises, the chance to use it to improve things will be lost.

My point is completely separate and relativises nothing. It is more of a co-existing issue than anything, but one which drags down both sides of the racism argument. Until people realise this, we won't make any progress combating true racism.

I see the issue differently. I see people desperate to make racism an issue where it is not, thereby harming cases where it really is. I see the real harm such a drive does to making the USA a truly post-racial society. And I see good people powerless to effect real change, because their voices are drowned out by the white noise.
