DMV License Expiration

I just received my SSN card today in lieu of my EAD card. My question is, I'll be getting my DMV license tomorrow, will the license expiration be the same with my EAD card which is good for 1 year and then pay again for a new license when I get my Greencard soon?

In my case, all IDs (DL & State ID) I have so far have the same expiration as the EAD card in the absence of the green card. I guess you can go back to the DMV office to update your status once you have received your green card.

Anyone please correct me if I am wrong in this presumption and enlighten us. Thank you

It may differ by state, but in my wife's case, her DC driver license has the same expiration date as her EAD card.

In DC, they won't issue an ID to someone who has less than six months of legal residency remaining, so if we had waited a few extra months we would have had to wait either for the green card or renewal of EAD (since our case is deep in a backlog and I'm not sure how long until the interview).

For convenience sake, I recommend getting an ID or driver license from your state as soon as possible. You may fail the written test, driving test, et cetera, so it can take longer than one expects. Also, that way you don't need to carry around your foreign passport or work permit as a form of ID.
